Telegraph.co.uk - 24 Nov 2005
By Roger Highfield, Science Editor. The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, the gas that drives global warming, is greater by more than a quarter on any previous high in the last 650,000 years, according to a European study. ...

For some reason I couldn't open that link. Was it the same as this one?

Looks to me like a very long range cycle of extreme variation that we are experiencing. I know that people have a hard time thinking that we aren't totally causing everything in the world, but it could be that it's just bigger than us. Not that we shouldn't do all we can to preserve air quality, but a good look at natural variation does explain a lot.
As for bashing Eileen Collins, I really don't care what her degree is in. She has seen the atmosphere from the other side. Maybe it looks fragile from the other side...maybe it really is. I'm pretty sure none of us here have seen it from that particular view, so I'll give her credit and the respect due for that.
Kind of like a really large version of taking apart your car engine and viewing the dipstick from below (I know there is a horrible joke there somewhere)...she's been there. It has it's cause for respect, but not necessarily total cause for agreement on an issue that is still being studied, up for major disagreement on cause, and being prostituted by all sides for political gain.

They weren't links, Ang, just what showed up on Google News the past two mornings.
I thought it might be worth resurrecting this thread; where some were trying to downplay the changes as being but natural occurrences, when there appears to be new alarming reason for concern being discovered each day.
One could always search; Google search -> Earth Changes - global warming - for all sort of nasty stuff on the subject.

Okay; in all fairness, I suppose your take makes as much sense as does mv's when it comes to the subject of global warming.Marty Wrote:

As for Cowboy Steven; I can't see that rootin tootin new tory po$er ever living that pic down in his lifetime.
What were his pr handlers thinking?
All I can come up with is that they were foolishly trying to reach for the impossible gay vote.
They should of known better, and just left that to heathen Martin and his Libby sinners.

The biggest pollutant in eastern SoCal isn't car exhaust as everyone thinks, it's methane from cow burps and turds from the dairy farms and pig shit from the swineries. Go ahead and tell these people not to burn wood for cooking or build houses or not grow crops because it's "bad for the envirnoment" and see what happens.
