read the novels Cockpit and Pinball the other week......pretty good books. Known mostly for penning Being There and the Painted Bird......
but these two book are pretty good--in that unafraid to make the narrator(s) despicable bastards reproduced in dispassioned prose that seems to make it all seem sort of "locigal".

I read a bunch of his books a few years back. One of the sickest is "Steps" - little vignettes of pure filth. Good stuff when you're in the mood.
The Painted Bird is actually a great book, IMO...true or not, plagiarized or not.
