Brian Williams and NBC news completely suck

Post by OCmike »

Okay, not as if we didn't already know that the big three heavily editorialize their news, but the shit they pulled yesterday was simply disgusting.

They lead off the broadcast with a tease about the strong economic numbers, but they just couldn't leave it at that without somehow painting the positive in a negative light.

Williams said(paraphrasing), "America received outstanding news about the economy today, but are there warning signs on the horizon."

So they teased the economy story, so naturally that'll lead right into it, right? Hell no! Williams then says, "So sorry we can't go into that now, because...TEN PEOPLE DIED IN IRAQ TODAY!!!" Nice going, NBC. There's more than 2,000 dead in Iraq, but 10 dead is your lead story over surprisingly good economic news? Nice bodybag count you've got there.

Anyway, I do have to rack NBC's sense of humor. Following the economic news story, Williams questioned why Bush's approval ratings could still be so low if the job numbers and all are so much better. Gee, I wonder why...

Yesterday, I was flipping through the radio looking for traffic details and when I went by Hannity I just knew if I would listen for ten seconds I'd hear something fucking lunatic.

Yesterday it was the discussion on Tookie. He stated he didn't care about Tookie's Nobel Prize, because Hitler won a Nobel Prize. Yes, folks, he actually said that.

Do I wish for the death of Hannity, you better fucking believe it.

For those that are ignorant to the Nobel Peace Prize process: Anyone can be nominated by someone in their country. ANYONE! It doesn't mean they don't giggle their asses off when someone emails in Saddam, but the nomination process is not their own.

Hitler was nominated by his countrymen and obviously didn't get one. Hannity went one further and fucked up by saying Hitler WON the award.

Okay, Jesus I forgot about this fucking piece of shit:

Hemesfehrs: Hannity's boytoy

Nobel doesn't mean anything.

When they pie him, hopefully the .38 bullet beats the pie.

So our brave dead fighting men now mean nothing to you Mike? Why do you hate America?

There are warning signs. We have such a huge deficit due primarily to the iraq war that unless measures are taken to reduce that negative debt and soon, it will effect the economy in a bad way.

The Greenspan out front should have told you. Our economy is Backed by a green paper tiger created by Bush in the money printing room.

The point is, he couldn't report on anything positive done by the BA without qualifying it somehow. If he wanted to discuss the national debt, that's fine, but it had nothing to do with the positive numbers.

Just once I'd like to see a positive story about the BA without it coming with a speculative reminder that doom is on the horizon.

I don't hate America, just most of its residents. :D

Yes. I always turn to an internet geek calling himself mothster for economic guidance, instead of say, people who actually know what's going on.
Greenspan wrote:"The United States budget position will substantially worsen in the coming years unless major deficit-reducing actions are taken.

Policy makers needed to restore procedural restraints on the budget making process that had been violated with increasing frequency since the end of the 1990's and were allowed to expire in 2002.

The fundamental fiscal issue is the need to make difficult choices among budget priorities. This need is becoming ever more pressing in light of the unprecedented number of individuals approaching retirement age."
Also,

The United States trade deficit hit a record $666 billion in 2004 and is now more than 6 percent of the country's gross domestic product.

But that's another problem "on the horizon".

And then there's the Bush Reaction:

""We have every reason to be optimistic about our future," Bush said."

Fucking clueless cheerleader that he is.
If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator." —GWB Washington, D.C., Dec. 19, 2000
