Things that have made me smile this young season...
Not that I am watching much basketball this season, but I have caught a few things. More so than in most years I have had plenty to smile about.
The best so far was Tech and Knight getting killed on National TV. I still can't decide which is better, Tech or Knight losing so badly, but it was great.
MSU basketball is looking like their football team.
Texas beats Iowa.
RICE has already matched the football team's win total.

KU losing to Nevada at home made me smile. :)
KU having it's worst record to start a season since '72-'73 makes me smile. :D
Of course the likely result of Mizzou's visit to Arkansas tonite is a 50 point beatdown, so that won't make me smile much.
Still, Misery loves company, and Jayhawk fan, there's plenty of room on this bandwagon.

the bizarreness of the Syracuse-Manhattan line score:
the Jaspers score 18 in the first half, 61 in the second half....blow a 10 point lead and then lose in OT.
61 in a half against Boeheim at the Dome is bizzaro world.

Not miserable here. We have a team full of freshmen, and they're going to take a long time to gel into a complete unit. They might go .500 this year, but there's too much talent there to go through four years of MU style mediocrity.War Wagon wrote:KU losing to Nevada at home made me smile. :)

It's not like I was calling my shot for a championship this year, or getting all bent out of shape because KU wasn't rakned.
Nevada is ranked in one of the two major polls. A lot more than can be said about, er, Sam Houston State.
May as well enjoy the artificial joy you gleam from the trials and tribulations of this KU season, because the following painful three years of MU basketball are going to make this year's MU misery look as insignificant as a mosquito bite once this KU team comes together.

Hate on hater, but RMK is the greatest coach in the history of the game and you'll have to deal with that fact no matter how many drubbings the Red Raiders endure.Left Seater wrote: The best so far was Tech and Knight getting killed on National TV. As to the topic, nothing has made me smile so far this season. Not one god damned thing.
"Our staff is going to ensure that anyone who attends this University and wears the Indiana uniform will make this privilege among their highest priorities and not treat the opportunity as an entitlement,'' Crean said in a statement. "We fully expect our student-athletes to accept the responsibilities academically, athletically and socially that come with representing one of the top programs in college basketball history."

Nothing artificial about it the sheer delight I get from listening to squawk fan meltdown over not having a highly ranked team, like it was some sort of friggin' birthright.JHawkBCD wrote:

Then again, there's also something magical about seeing a NCAA tourney #2 seed get bounced in the first round by the likes of Bucknell. :P
As for Mizzou, they surprised the shit out of me last nite taking the Razorbacks down to a last second shot. Gutty effort in an extremely hostile environment against a quality team. There may be some hope for this years team afterall.

Dunno who you're hearing that from... maybe joe6frontrunner and his ilk, but that's about it. Knowledgeable KU fans get it. I'm happy with them building for a future powerhouse if the evidence is there that they're making the efforts... and it's certainly there.War Wagon wrote:Nothing artificial about it the sheer delight I get from listening to squawk fan meltdown over not having a highly ranked team, like it was some sort of friggin' birthright.
It's a good thing that Bucknell was there, becuase your shit team couldn't even make the tourney to take a crack at it.Then again, there's also something magical about seeing a NCAA tourney #2 seed get bounced in the first round by the likes of Bucknell. :P
And let's not forget the college hoops powerhouse that is Sam Houston State.
