Homeland Security to investigate Cameron Indoor Stadium
Apparently it's just too damn easy for Blue Devil players to hit half court fucking shots to snatch away a victory. I have a feeling we'll see a much different Dook team this Saturday against Tejas, but it certainly looks like we'll have a new #1 next week.
"Our staff is going to ensure that anyone who attends this University and wears the Indiana uniform will make this privilege among their highest priorities and not treat the opportunity as an entitlement,'' Crean said in a statement. "We fully expect our student-athletes to accept the responsibilities academically, athletically and socially that come with representing one of the top programs in college basketball history."
Duke looks very proned to be taken behind the woodshed by someone. That Texas game could be ugly. Coach K is going to have to work his ass off to get a win in that one. I won't live in denial, this team is one of the least impressive #1 teams I've seen in a while. I fully expect them to lose to Texas. They're talented but don't have the polish of a typical Duke team...way too shaky to call them the best team in the country right now.

I'm a little embarrassed about this.....I was watching the Howard Stern thing on 60 Minutes and just left it on while I was doing chores around the house and looking at that decievingly hot blond chick on that Cold Case File show. The girl calls me at 10ish and asks, "Did Duke win?" Oh, shit.....I totally forgot they were on! Sacrielige. Immediately flip it to the Sunday night Duke Channel (FSN) and there's 15 sec. left. When Dock lets that thing go, I just thought, "...damn....that thing's got a chance....." Bang. Wow.
OK...it shows up in the win column but K summed it up best.....
"I feel very badly for Virginia Tech," Coach K said. "They gave a winning effort. They never quit and they were certainly deserving to win. I'm not sure we were."
Well, I didn't see 99% of the game but this is a pretty weak #1 team. They don't suck but #1? Uh, no. Yes, new #1 pretty soon. Nice effort, though, at an incredibly loud and revved up Assembly Hall here on Wednesday. I managed to get Shine to forget his "boycott" of IU sports (long as Davis is coach) and attend game.

I was looking forward to actually seeing a game on TV - been gone since the first round of the PNIT. Shaky is exactly the word for it, Texas might just run us out of the building on Saturday. I kinda feel bad for Penn, cause they're going to get worked on Wednesday.
I HATE the stall ball approach - trying to run time off the clock with under 4 minutes left. It inevitably leads to a terrible FG attempt and a fast break bucket at the other end.

i can see how Mucho feels. i had a hunch an SF but i'm starting think Seth Greenberg is a pretty good coach who might get a chance to leave Blacksburg for some place in the upper echelon of hoopsdom.
but, by the same token, if Va Tech is showing the willingness to make the commitment to a top athletic program (Beamer, being in the ACC) they might lock him up. ACC would be a damn tough place to build from nowhere, IMHO.
Hokies has some good team in the mid-late 80's with Dell Curry (?), am i right in thinking that.....but still. the hoops ACC is not a start-up league.

I knew about the game but I was watching Family Guy instead. I flipped over in time to see them in a dogfight with the Hokies. The Devils pulled out to the 10 point lead with a few minutes left and I decided to hit the sack thinking it was over. I get up in the morning to check e-mail and I see that Dockery saved the Devils' bacon. Much respect for the Hokies for not giving an inch against Duke...probably would've been better for them to lose by double-digits than to lose by way of a half-court prayer.
One other thing, I find it incredibly stupid that the fans stormed the court after the game. Uh, you're Dook, the #1 ranked team in the country with 3 of those banners hanging from your rafters. They're Virginia Tech. Act like you've been there before, especially when you have. It's not like you knocked off UNC with that shot.

I love you, man. Especially watching Duke get SO far under your skin on a highly consistent basis. Good times...

WRONG. It's not a Dook thing, it's a school's that shouldn't be doing shit thing. Seriously, Dook is the type of school that shouldn't storm the court for a W over a school like VT. The same could be said for schools like IU, UNC, Kansas, Arizona, etc, etc. There are games where even for those schools it would be appropriate, but VT ISN'T one of those games. I'm sure Mustang (a Dookie) will back me up on this one.rozy wrote:Shine wrote:One other thing, I find it incredibly stupid that the fans stormed the court after the game. I have seen Texas play this year and I am not too impressed. I Know it is early, but I see Duke taking care of business Saturday. Duke hasnt been lights out lately either. It seems like one player on the team that plays Duke blows up for a career night. I see Duke winning by at least 8 Saturday night. NOw, Duke does play Penn tomorrow night......

I agree with Shine...DukeFan should never storm the court when they escape with a victory. Especially after they choked the game away and had to win on a prayer shot. I'm sure it was an emotional reaction by the crowd...they wouldn't have stormed the floor if they held onto the lead and didn't have to resort to last second heroics to win the game. For how frequently they win in Cameron, the fans shouldn't have overreacted like that. That shot doesn't compare the Capel shot against Carolina several years back when Duke was having a down year...that would've warranted a spontaneous court-storming from DukeFan.

No brainer. When someone beats Duke they shouldn't even storm their own floor. But when Duke beats Va. Tech....a team they SHOULD have lost to? No, keep it in the stands....remember who you are....look like you've done it before. But I will agree with Shoalzie....very few games are won there or anywhere with halfcourt heaves. So I'll sort of cut them some slack in the "heat of turning sure defeat into a 'w' but such antics should be saved for huge, huge games and worthy opponents.Shine wrote:WRONG. For now, yes. A few more years of the Mike Davis regime at IU and that win may lose some of its luster.helmet wrote:Is Indiana State the type of school that should storm the court?
