POY: 2 man race

Post by Shine »

We're only a couple weeks into the season, but the POY award is already down to only 2 candidates: Adam Morrison and JJ Redick. Both these guys have seperated themselves from the pack, and I see nothing to make me think either guy will slow up. With the amount of games Dook will get on ACCPN the edge has to go to Redick but with Morrison likely keeping the Zags around the top 10 all year he can't be counted out.
"Our staff is going to ensure that anyone who attends this University and wears the Indiana uniform will make this privilege among their highest priorities and not treat the opportunity as an entitlement,'' Crean said in a statement. "We fully expect our student-athletes to accept the responsibilities academically, athletically and socially that come with representing one of the top programs in college basketball history."

From what I've seen they are clearly at the top of the class this year. You could make a hell of an argument for either one of them in my opinion.

At the same time voters seeing a few games that Sheldon will step up and with the whole duke is a great team Gonaga is still a Cinderella team. I could see guys voting Morrison in with the notion he carries his team whereas Reddick is the top player on a great team.

thing is: for Gonzaga OOC is the time to shine.....for major conference schools, OOC is a couple TV paydays and cupcakes. Once the Zags go into conference play you can forget about seeing them on TV before 10 EST and/or east of the continential divide.

I dunno. Her best friend was a pudgy white boy named Peter - but now I'm not sure.

The days of the Zags being recognized as a Cinderella are over. A cinderella team is one that is not heavily regarded or highly ranked and comes out of nowhere to do great things. Gonzaga being ranked in the Top10 and getting #4-5 seeds in the tourney, eliminates them from that discussion.

Thought about including him but IMO he's a very distant third at this point.

Wait until January when he'll have one of the best point guards in the country feeding him the ball. Plenty of time to catch up...

Remember kids, we've already smoked Arizona and Gonzaga with a freshman who doesn't know what he's doing at the point.

The NCAA should just give us the damned trophy now...

I think it's got to be Morrison right now. I think it's much easier to pick a guy who's clearly the best player on his own team. With Redick, if he's not scoring he's not as good on the defensive end at Williams or even Dockery. I don't know which guy is more important to Duke...Williams with his low post presence and shot-blocking or Redick with his ability to fill it up. With Morrison, Gonzaga sinks or swims based on what he does.

Morrison I would say right now is POY, but he loses points for the Sanchez mustache.

I think the old school striped socks, when pulled up high and tight, are sweet.

First off, Zona sucks and I wouldn't exactly say you smoked Gonzaga. And don't forget, they were missing a player or two as well.
