shannon hoon you stupid f*ck

Post by tao »

10 years gone.

about 11 years ago i was driving through washington state. i stopped in spokane to pick up some cds.

i grabbed blind melon "soup" ... well that thing was stuck on repeat damn near straight thru until i rolled into seattle 7 hours later.

that album was panned by the critics, but i still listen it to regularly.

hoon had all the attirbutes of a great front man ... but unfortunately he was also hooked on down.

tonite i was browsing the local virgin mega store and ran across a blind melon live dvd.

it is a low budget shoot, made a few weeks before hoon offed hisself, but there was a couple of great songs on there.

"walk" and "st. andrews fall" are two of my faves.

hoon you stupid fuck ...

if you can find it anywhere, the blind melon documentary is compelling shit. there are a ton of live performance footage including 2x4 from woodstock 94, where shannon is tripping his nuts off on stage. although i don't listen to much blind melon anymore, their live shit was phenominal. i have a few bootlegs with deserted and dear ol' dad on them and it still blows my mind to listen to them. there are a few bands i'd give anything to have seen back in the day: early GNR, early pearl jam, and early blind melon.

shannon's tattoo necklace is the coolest tattoo i have ever seen. bet that hurt a bit.

There are LOTS of stupid lead singers that died unnecessary deaths. :(

I agree with you though. I LOVE that Blind Melon album. "No Rain" was definitely the worst song on the album. I still play it often...

What about Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Who, The Stones, ACDC, Van Halen, Queen, Ozzy, The Beatles, Cream, Sknyerd, CCR, The Jefferson Airplane, The Carpenters, The Beach Boys, Elvis, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Miles Davis, James Brown, Sly and the Family Stone, Black Sabbath, The Allman Brothers, REO Speedwagon, Culture Club, Motley Crue, Ratt, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Winger, Poison, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Pink Floyd, and Harry Neilson?

Just to name a few.

You must spend a lot of time changing the station if you won't listen to groups that have abused drugs.

I love Ween too. But don't tell me that's a drug free group.

It's not a big deal.

Apparently, it wasn't his, hence, depression and suicide.
