the game has an interesting wrinkle for Sooner fan.....insofar as pulling for Texas is flat out satanic wrong yet a SC win puts the Trojans in serious striking distance of the 47 straight win streak of Bud Wilkinson's Sooners of the mid 50's.
once the game starts, i'll be pulling against Texas....it's just too much hardwiring to overcome. I'll take my shot next year with the Trojans running the table.....and if they break the 47 straight record, my hat is off to em.
Fight on!

For Sooner fan, this is very much like choosing between death by hanging and death by firing squad. Neither outcome is pretty. Nevertheless, I'm forced to root for Texas. In the end, the 47-game winning streak is more important to me than laughing at Texas. If I had a guarantee that USC will lose next year, I'd root for the Trojans.
I have the same thoughts on Texas, too. In addition, it will probably hurt A&M's recruiting efforts. However, we've had great talent come through A&M the past few years, but our problems have been in coaching.
As a PAC fan, I will ALWAYS rrot for the PAC teams when they're playing OOC.
Except Washington. Washington could be playing an all-star team from Texas, Nebraska, Michigan, and Miami, and I'd STILL be rooting for the Anyone-But-Huskies.
Plus for some reason, SC is a very friendly rivalry with any PAC team not called "UCLA." I'm not sure how SC maintains such a "friendly" quality, but they always have...they're just a darn fun team to play in the same conference with, good year for them or bad. And their offense has looked eerily similar to Oregon's for quite a few years (well, if you throw out the actual results from said offense), so there's that. Then again, Cal and Wazzu run a very similar offense, and I don't care much for either of them.
And ultimately, since Oregon will play USC next season, there's a good chance that one of the SC defensive players may kill Brady Leaf, or at least paralyze him, which would probably inspire me to go buy some USC gear.
There's an element of ND's fanbase that absolutely despises 'SC. But most ND fans have a grudging respect for 'SC. The ND-USC rivalry was builty primarily on mutual respect, although both teams want to win and win badly.
I'm in the latter camp. Not to mention that ND gave 'SC its worst scare of the year, far and away, so a USC win, particularly if convincing, makes ND look that much better. Not saying it'll happen, but I could see us finishing as high as #3 if we beat tOSU and USC wins.

This is when the gettin' gets good. I bemoan "parity", at least in the sense where there are no "big boys on campus". For as long as a dynasty stands, the inevitable fall gets the sweeter.

Texas fans are by and large loyal, rabid football fans. While the same can be said for a fair amount of the current SC base, the Trojan bandwagon is as obnoxious an entity as I have encountered in sports since Laker fan. ESPN's manic stitching of themselves to the Trojan jockstrap of late makes it even easier to pull for Texas in a game I really have little otherwise interest in.
That said, I'll be suprised if Texas even keeps it close.
