Can't say that I know a great deal about the players involved but I still have some interest in it. 3 Wolverines on the team, never a bad thing...except when it comes to the GLI and they annually have to go without their best players.
Team USA blitz Norway 11-2 today...Bourque with 5 goals, Kessel with 5 helpers, Porter with a goal and 3 assists. That's cool that they are showing the games on Center Ice since I'm now a subscriber this year. Looking forward to catching that USA-Canada game on New Year's Eve afternoon.

Canada is considered a long shot to win, maybe a bronze contender. Rumor has it the U.S and Russian teams are too stong. Don't know much about Russia, except for some kid named Evgeny Malkin who's supposed to be better than Ovechkin. Rumor also has it the Americans are stacked, and from what I saw v. Norway, they might be.
Justin Pogge (a Leaf pick....bleh) will have to be lights out in goal for this team to have a chance. There are returnees (try 1, retard
) and their (his) experience will help, but the stars who dominated last year are all in the bigs.
Plus they have the ugliest jerseys in the tournament.....hands down.
Should be a fairly forgettable WJC for Team Canada. That being said, never underestimate Canadian heart and toughness, though from what I've seen the refs are doing their best to neuter Canada's physical game.

The zebras looked like newbies who are looking to impress NHL referee scouts or some shit. The game was no fun to watch and a good chunk of those penalties were so far off base it was ridiculous. First game I had time to watch and it sucked a dick.
I should have watched Gilmore Girls instead....I hear the younger brunette hottie got laid or some shit.

And honestly? He should have gotten at least a one-game suspension for it. It was completely stupid, completely uncalled-for, and he needs to get the message that he can't be pulling this crap. From a consumer standpoint, the traditional hockey jersey has always been the best looking and most comfortable of all of the sports jerseys to purchase and wear. I don't know if the fact they are form-fitting is more beneficial for the players themselves as far as being able to move easier or allow them skate faster but as a consumer, I don't want to buy one.

The thing that impresses me about this win is that they have gone undefeated in the tournament once more, making Brent Sutter perfect in two tournaments.
If he isn't going to be the most sought-after coach outside of the NHL, I don't know who would be. Especially now that he's taken a reportedly less talented version of Team Canada and produced the same result as last year with an extremely talented team. In both cases, Sutter gave us a team that played as a team and did all the little things winning teams do.

And you thought only the beautiful people lived in Vancouver.
Turns out the left coast has more than enough ugly Canadians to go around, too. Thousands have been hanging out this week at GM Place, polluting a select few games at the world junior hockey championships with their classless brand of athletic support. While Team Canada's performance and decorum en route to today's gold-medal game against Russia has made everyone proud, the anti-American antics of the crowd have made others cringe.
They have booed the Americans lustily and chanted mindlessly. The genius at the controls of the GM Place video board has egged them on by flashing "U Suck America." Classy.
They have been, in a word, embarrassing.
Perhaps it's just the classic mob mentality at play here. If you surround yourself with neanderthals you can be sure to lose your hold on civility the moment things get too heated.
So one leather-lunged clown becomes two and two become four, the gloves come off and the fight takes a dirty turn.
But that's not really much of an excuse for the pitiful way in which Team USA has been targeted.
These are not fans attending an NHL regular-season game between the Canucks and Rangers. If Canuck fans want to boo Jaromir Jagr, have at it. Oiler fans will probably boo Mike Comrie for the rest of his career. That's a localized case, and as such it's well within the boundaries of fair comment. It's Edmonton being Edmonton in Edmonton.
What the braying fans in Vancouver may have forgotten, or never considered, is the fact they are seen by the rest of the sporting world as representative of the country hosting this tournament.
As such, their behaviour reflects on 30 million Canadians and the sights and sounds broadcast far and wide on TSN have not been flattering.
It doesn't make me ashamed to be Canadian. Far from it. I just wonder when these folks will give their collective heads a shake. They aren't doing Team Canada any favours. They haven't really affected the outcome of any of the U.S. games. In choosing to boo a team full of American teenagers, all they've really managed to do is sully the reputation of Canadian sports fans. This sort of reception wasn't felt by Team Canada in North Dakota last year. It didn't happen to Team USA in Winnipeg, Halifax or Red Deer, the sites of other relatively recent World Junior tournaments.
It would be nice to see Vancouver fans suffer an attack of common sense today, with the Americans chasing bronze and Team Canada on yet another quest for gold. There was never much reason to boo Team USA quite so mercilessly, outside of Jack Johnson's elbow on Steve Downie in the round-robin, and there is even less now.
It's not too late for fans to start acting like sportsmen and women. It's not too late for them to bury the ugly Canadian.
Ironically enough, they could learn a lesson from Johnson.
"I think all of us in our room will be cheering for Canada," he said after the Americans lost to Russia in Tuesday's semifinal, during which the crowd booed his every move and cheered madly for Russia.
"Canada is a class act and the Russians, after last year's championship, were really into taunting and everything.
"We just like the way Canada carries themselves."
The team, not the crowd. The team has been wonderful, as they always are. The crowd, not so much.
I don't know why the boo-birds have come to roost in GM Place. It could be something as simple as the North American rivalry on full blast. It could be that Team USA was the pre-tournament favourite and Vancouver fans have decided boorish behaviour is part and parcel of the home-ice advantage. It could be Johnson's elbow on Downie still resonating throughout the building. It could be ignorance, poor sportsmanship, mob mentality or too much beer.
It could be a lot of things. It should stop.
