We really should thank WW for keeping on topic --

Texas pounded Mizzou into a different area code, and since Mizzou = USC, Texas must be going to win.

Obviously.

Do you think before you submit this stuff?

And the folks with their "USC has bad defense because they gave up a lot of points" are KILLING me. Maybe they gave up lots of points because they weren't playing in the "three runs up the middle and punt" conference?

And maybe, just maybe, it had something to do with putting the opposing offense back on the field approximately 30 seconds after SC got the ball every time? Give your opponents 35 kickoff returns per game, and I hope they can get in FG range after at least a few of them.

That wasn't the point. The point was the difference between OU of last year (which Van and others seem to relish belaboring) and Texas of this year.

Is reading within a context so tough for you to grasp?

And maybe, just maybe, they gave up a lot of points because they suck on defense. But that's ok. You Pac 10 pussies are relying on Vince Young to make "just enough mistakes".

Who gives a fuck why they gave up so many points?

Is that like a ready made excuse you have brewing there?

WW, on what basis are you assuming this year's Texas team is any better than last year's OU team?

This time last year, OU was receiving every last accolade and every bit of praise that Texas is receiving now. They were every bit as dominant, heading into the Orange Bowl.

They shut out this same basic Texas offense, only that offense had a much better running back in Cedric Benson.

Jason White was a better passer than Vince Young and Adrian Peterson is a better runner than Vince Young and Bob Stoops sure as hell is a better big game coach than Mack Brown.

There's simply no reason to automatically assume Texas is better than last year's OU team. If anything, it'd be easier to make a case for last year's OU team.

After USC rolls Texas nobody's going to be saying Texas was so much better than OU. Hindsight is hurting OU right now. Texas hasn't yet been subjected to it, and that's the only difference...

Not assuming, Van. Don't have time to go into much detail, but like I wrote earlier, I watched both teams play my team, this year and last, and based on my observations, there's no comparison.

We'll see what happens.

You didn't hear that sort of talk from me. I knew Jason White was an over-rated scrub who'd be pouring concrete after his college career was done. As well, I watched the less than stellar squad I pimp for (MIZZOU) give OU one hella' battle in Norman last year.
hey dumbfuck, Mizzou played OU 2+ years ago, not last year :meds: :meds: :meds: anyone who follows Mizzou and the program would know it's a 2 year circuit with South teams. we have played Tejas,OSU,Baylor 2 years straight, so guess who we play this year? So guess who we played in 03? your a fucking genius

[quote="Dinsdale"] UCLA is the other LA team that wears that effeminate blue, and plays in the Rose Bowl during the months of September through December; they also beat their bowl opponent (unlike our choking ducks), they also beat OUR bowl opponent, and I apologize for even mentioning uniform colors-------(Oregon embarassment).....

None of what you said is false, per se, but in comparing 04 OU to 05 UT you just gloss over the fact that 05 USC is not nearly as good as 04 USC either, especially defensively.

That wasn't the point, was it? The point concerned this year's Texas vs last year's OU.

Last year, same as this year, everybody was saying USC's defense wasn't strong enough to contend with their opponent's dominating offense.

"USC hasn't seen an offense like this all year! Nobody they played has this much speed and nobody they played in the pussy Pac 10 could out physical 'em like OU will!"

Then they played the game.

:meds:

Besides, USC's simply been injured on defense this year. If they're healthier for the Rose Bowl and they roll Texas, again, hindsight will then say that their defense got healthy towards the end of the year and then they dominated UCLA and Texas, two of the most prolific offenses in football.

Hindsight will then also say that '05 Texas was no better than '04 OU.

As for whether '05 USC isn't "nearly as good as '04 USC, especially defensively", you need to amend that to read, "So far, the '05 USC defense hasn't been as good overall as the '04 USC defense but obviously their offense is every bit as good, if not better..."

Injuries. That's been the only problem. Let's just see how a somewhat healthier and fully-focused-on-only-one-game USC defense does in the Rose Bowl...
