What was the record for..

Post by Jack »

PostSeason consecutive wins by a team??

The Patriots have won 10 in a row.

Saturday night, Tom Brady (surely he would much prefer we say "the Patriots") improved his playoff record to 10-0, best ever. New England has won its last 10 postseason games, also an NFL record.

Who had the record before???

I can't find this stat. Anyone know???

*****

and the Patriots will be underdogs against Indy or Denver!!

and that's the way the Patriots like it!!

Doesn't missing the post season in 2002 count as a loss? Or is this like the mythical 3 straight titles that USC was supposed to have been going for where whatever the TV announcers say is true?

The Pats have won 7 straight. Which is still impressive.

Are you for real????? The Pats have won the last 10 playoff games they were in. Them missing the playoffs that one year has absolutely nothing to do with this stat. Me thinks Squeeler fan is a little bitter since a few came against his team........IN THEIR OWN CRIB NO LESS!! I hope we both make it through because if you thought the ass raping at Heinz was getting old I would love to see an AFC Championship game at Gillette.

Jack----When it comes to the postseason, they're a perfect 10. As in New England is now 10-0 in the postseason in the Bill Belichick/Tom Brady era, breaking the league record for consecutive playoff wins it shared with Vince Lombardi's legendary Green Bay Packers teams of the 1960s.

But they still suck to some......

Get off the fucking drugs Neeley. When the Pats win 3 straight titles, then they deserve comparisons to Lombardi's teams. Lombardi's teams won those games in 3 straight years. The Pats got a break missing the playoffs in 2002. It is a made up record made up by the broadcasters looking to sell ad time. Believe it all you want. After all, Kool Aid does taste good.

God, there is nothing more obnoxious than a New Englander full of himself. Anybody remember when Patsfan running smack was fresh? Anybody remember when we all kinda felt good watching Neeley and.... well actualy Neely was the only Patsfan posting on Smackboard when they beat the Rams, celebrate the first ever Pats Super Bowl win?

The record refers to consecutive playoff wins. If the Pats had made the playoffs that year and lost then you would be right. Alas the last 10 playoff games they were in they have won. The quote regarding Lombardi actually comes from Don Banks of SI:

2 AFC Championship games at Heinz in that run.......hurts don't it???

The "record" is a media creation. That's all. Kinda like all those "playoff records" held by current Yankees at the expense of past Yankees who didn't have a whole month's worth of postseason baseball to play. Get over yourself.

Ill be sure to check the NFL record book when it is updated. I am sure that the media will have it put into there as well......

New England's milestone surpassed the nine straight playoff victories by Green Bay in the 1960s.

Red,

I don't think anybody is arguing that the Pats have gotten the "record". The only argument is over exactly how valid a record it is when you can go 9-7 and miss the playoffs in the middle of said "streak".

I was just answering the original question.

But to your point: a ten game post-season run is pretty impressive for essentially the same team. If there were a nine or ten year gap involved, then you could dismiss it pretty easily. Is it One For the Ages? No, but it's impressive nonetheless.

I ask a question... you turn it into a fight...

According to the NFL, the longest Post Season winning streak is 10 (by the New England Patriots).

That is, the for the past 10 times that they were in the playoffs, all they did was win.

If you want to start your own Football Hall of Fame and make stats according to Your rules, GO AHEAD!!

I awas asking, who according to the NFL, had the record of Post Season wins, prior to the Patriots current record!!

Thank you Red!!

btw... Congrats to the Steelers!!
