I love it when a plan comes together.

Mark my words: Denver is going to win the Super Bowl.

The parallels between this year's team and the 1998 Championship team are uncanny, to wit:

The 1998 Broncos and the 2005 Broncos each lost to both the Dolphins and the Giants.

In 1998 the best offensive team in the NFL, the Vikings, had their playoff run end when their kicker (who hadn't missed a FG all season) shanked a FG that would have given them the win. It would have been a great matchup, but I think the Vikings would have beaten the Broncos that year.

In 2005 the best offensive team in the NFL, the Colts, had their playoff run end when their kicker (who hadn't missed a FG at home all season) shanked a FG that would have given them a tie and forced overtime. Indy was the consensus pick to win it all this year.

In 1998 Denver's leading receiver, Rod Smith had 86 catches and scored 6 touchdowns.

In 2005 Denver's leading receiver, Rod Smith had 85 catches and scored 6 touchdowns.

Both the 1998 and 2005 Broncos were the #2 rushing teams in the league.

Unreal. Detroit, here we come.

I like Denver's chances.

The game next week v Pittsburgh is effectively the Super Bowl.

Denver at home?
Tuff to beat.

Pittsburgh has a very strong defense v. the rush, and I wouldn't count on beating them if you rush for 96 yds like you did v. the Patsies.

It's gonna be PHYSICAL.

When playing a team of proven choke artists like the Squeelers with coach Bill Coward there is no need to be apprehensive.

It's over and done.

B Smack even knows it but that bitch will spend all week talking up some Republican conspiracy or some shit in an attempt to deflect the obvious.

Coward has proven over and over again that he goes Marty in big games and this weekend will be no different.

Prepare for your assraping Squeeler fans!

It's coming!!!

gotta hand it to the broncs. they got alot of crap last year for some moves they made, but they look good.

and any team that knocks of the pats gets an 'amen' from me.

(nothing against the pats, but damn, we need new blood)

Bwaha, ahahahaha.

Yea, bring on Jake. We're waiting. Too bad so is Pittsburgh.

#1 offense and defense get pwned.
See ya in D-Town, Pittsburgh.

The key to this game is going to be wether or not the Steelers can turn Jake Plummer into the Jake the Flake we all know and love. The Steelers will shut down the Broncos running game. And they will shut down Rod Smith. So the game will be won or lost on the backs of Jake Plummer and Ashley Lelie.

I have to admit that before the Colts game, I didn't think the Steelers matched up well with the Broncos defensive front. But after watching Roethlisberger open up the full playbook against the Colts, (who also boasted a big physical front 7) I'm feeling a little bit better about their chances this comming Sunday.

Put me down for "Broncos: Super Bowl Champs" too.

The Steelers are a great team and I respect the hell out of them. The problem is, I respect Denver more...for being the better team all year and for putting themselves in a position to win the AFC at home.

Whatever.

I'm sickened by the AFC results this weekend.

I'm going to be spring cleaning until next season.

Adios, tards!

I think Denver is the team to beat. Denver's line will keep Pitt at bay a little more than Indy did- giving Jake a chance to go long. Their D will make the plays like they need to- shutting down the Pitt running game and limiting Ben.

I think a Denver/Carolina superbowl is going to be a great game...

As opposed to the Panthers, who have never won one?

Or maybe you're pointing at the U&LHawks, who have never played in one?

Oh, I get it. You mean the Steelers, who won their last Super Bowl twenty fucking six years ago. And, more recently, have tanked a hat trick of AFC Championship home games.

Live in the now, brokeback_piranha.

I agree, but the author's contention that the game was a gift is just crap.
Would Denver had won the game without the turnovers and short field for the offense?

No they probably wouldn't have, NE was controlling the game until their meltdown.

Sure Denver made the plays on defense and scoreboard is all that counts, but don't expect the Steelers to turn it over a bunch. Denver's offense will have to actually score points on their own merits for a Bronco victory this week.

I think the Steelers will contain Denver's ground game and force Jake Bummer to beat them, & that spells trouble for the mules.

Gary, double or nothing on that 12 pack?
You'll never learn Joe!!

Sounds good...more brew for the SuperBowl Party!

Denver will have to tighten it up on offense if they want to Spank the Stoolers as hard as they Spanked the Pats. These teams are very similar when it comes to play calling and neither truly want their QBs tossing more than 20 balls. A clock munching... low scoring game in Denver.

I think between the altitude and Stooler players holding their breath whilse their fired up coach spits at them it will be another SuperBowl for the Donkeys.

The Colt front 7 is small and fast.

Truth be told, they looked a lot bigger playing the Steelers the first time around. I guess that's what happens when you have 2 first time starters on the O-Line.
