"Never Let Me Down Again"

Post by patsy stone »

Last Friday night I went dancing and they played this song and as I was boogying down, I realized, "HEY! THIS SONG IS ABOUT DRUGS!!!!"

Yes, folks, it took me over 10 years to realize this.

And here I was thinking Dave Gahan is driving around with his best friend and he pissed him off.

*sigh*

I'm a tard. (That's never used drugs, I might add. Maybe that's why. :?)

ah youth. This thread makes me wanna call my little sister and ask if she's done borrowing my 101 tapes. its only been 13 years or so.

there's a depeche mode video comp on netflix. wife ordered it and I was surprised how much I remember of the old songs. the behind the wheel sing-a-long at the house that night was very, very gay.

I'm taking a ride
With my best friend
I hope he never lets me down again
He knows where he's taking me
Taking me where I want to be
I'm taking a ride
With my best friend

We're flying high
We're watching the world pass us by
Never want to come down
Never want to put my feet back down
On the ground

I'm taking a ride
With my best friend
I hope he never lets me down again
Promises me I'm safe as houses
As long as I remember who's wearing the trousers
I hope he never lets me down again

Never let me down

See the stars, they're shining bright
Everything's alright tonight

I wouldn't say that you're a tard because of that. More power to you.

After playing GTA: San Andreas for scores of hours, I have "Reach Out and Touch Me" forever in my head. Thank goodness it's a great song.

Actually, it's "Reach Out and Touch Faith."

I like the alternate version I came up with (or, at least, I think I did)-
"Reach out and suck face".

The line, or the song title... I knew what Invictus was talkin' about! :P

There's been some debate on the DM message board about what NLMDA is *really* about. Some say drugs, some say gay sex. Hell, I just take it as it is.

Martin is well-known for not explaining his songs. He doesn't like to tell people what they are about and he enjoys the fact that different people put different meanings to his songs. In years that I've been a Devotee, I've never heard Martin explain in detail his songs - until Playing the Angel and he explained that "Precious" was about his divorce from his wife and how it affects his kids.

That's why he fuckin' rocks. He can take me for a ride anyday.
