So Vick is able to create personal relationships with, and network with his co-workers?

Sounds like a real ducking dummy. That is what we were talking about? Right?

Vick's NFC QB ranking speaks for itself-
2005 ranking-
Passing yards-10th
Passing td's- 8th
passer rating- 12th

If Vick was in the top 3 NFC Qb's his ranking would indicate that. They don't.
His career stats don't even indicate that. Vick may be an incredible athlete but he clearly has no clue on how to play his position.

If you want to argue the merit's of Vick's selection, find someone else. My point is that you can't make the Pro Bowl as a QB by being a complete retard. It is that simple. Either he has learned the position or he has networking skills out the ass. Either way, Vick ain't no dummy.

Your emphasis on the pro-bowl is what is wrong with your entire point. If you don't think the NFLPA, agents and the like have any impact on players like Vick making the pro bowl, you're an idiot.

My emphasis is on the fact that Mike Vick would not necessarily be a failure in life had he not had sports.

Furthermore, if the ability to run a football was all one required to be at Mike Vike's level, what are Antwaan Randle El, Hines Ward and Matt Jones doing at wide reciever? Are they somehow even dumber than Mike Vick?

You can make an argument for Brunell, but Manning and his 52% completion rate and his 17 INTs don't belong anywhere near a Pro Bowl.
And yet a guy with only a 55% completion rate, 1,300 fewer yards than Manning, fewer yards per attempt than Manning, 9 fewer touchdowns than Manning and a lower quarterback rating than Manning does belong in the Pro Bowl.

Manning had an assload of attempts, 558 to be exact. More attempts than I would have expected with one of the best RBs in the league behind him.

Argue the merits of Vick's Pro Bowl selection all you want. My point is that a complete dummy doesn't even get into the conversation.

Fine, Manning has a better TD/INT ratio and higher YPA.
More attempts than I would have expected with one of the best RBs in the league behind him.
Vick has the best running game in football. Of course he helped those figures too, but it's comparable to Manning's situation.

Maybe he isn't a "complete" dummy, but he does sound like a fucking retard when he speaks.

So do a lot of programmers I work with. Poor language skills do not always indicate a lack of intelligence.

B: I haven't completely understood your "championing" of Vick. He is a poor QB, more hype than anything. He is not smart....hence.....

"Michael Vick of Atlantamay be the best player in the league, but his 20 score is low for a quarterback. "

Ouch.

His 20 score is also the average score for the 2004 USC team.

Which only goes to my point that Vick is not an idiot. He may have some weak decision making skills, but we've all seen plenty of early to mid 20 somethings who looked like they were bound for jail only to turn it around and make something of their lives.

B: Relax man, its okay. He made the best out of what he was given. Many don't. I really think we are all given talents. He is using his, but he would never make it in the REAL world. Period.

It's economic darwinism out here. Everything is what YOU make it. Dude can't make lemon juice with half a dried up lemon. Fuck, he can't even spell lemon. I highly doubt he would be able to do much beyond hard manual labor.....(that would be using his physical talents).

Do you disagree that some people are blessed with physical tools while others are blessed with brains?

You remember Terry Bradshaw? You know? The guy who couldn't spell cat if you spotted him the C and the T?

He seems to have done OK using his other skill sets.

You see Vick and you think "hood rat with a million dollar set of wheels". While that may be true, those athletic skills have defined his life in a very positive economic way. Take those skills away, and he's forced to adapt. I'm just citing a few reasons why Vick wouldn't have necessarily been a lost cause minus his football skills.

Forced to adapt? Car-jacking, selling drugs, etc. I love how you assume the guy is going to become an engineer. Bull-shit. He was either going to be a sports star or a thug. Period.
