RACK HBO

Post by PSUFAN »

Initially, I just assumed that HBO stuff was as bad as it always was. However, I'm to the point now where I am seeking shows out simply because they are from HBO.

I started watching Deadwood last night, and I think it's great so far.

I'm assuming you've checked out Curb, Sopranos, and the usual suspects? I really enjoyed Oz, but the local video stores don't carry the DVD's past season two. Might have to get Netflix.

The show that I've really started to get into is Entourage. That show is awesome. Jeremy Piven (Ari Gold, the agent) is classic. One of the best characters on TV.

But I'm with you. I have to try to catch Rome, and I will because it's an HBO show.

Rack Calamity Jane. Cocksucker.

Yep, I've enjoyed The Sopranos, Curb, and Six Feet Under, all via Netflix. I guess I plan to check out Oz, and now Entourage, based on your recc.

Entourage is pretty quick to get through, I think there are only about 8 half hour episodes in the first season, and 11 or 12 in the second. Oz was great the first two seasons, but it was pretty brutal in terms of what actually goes on in prison. I'm sure some of all of that stuff goes on, but I think it's slightly exaggerated. I missed out on sesons 3-5, but the final season was pretty solid, too.

Entourage is my fav show on TV. Its funny, entertaining and only runs for a half-hour. I agree in that Piven's character is great.

I loved the first couple seasons of OZ when I was in college, but I didnt really follow the last 2 seasons as much. Got kind of too faggotty.

I never missed an episode of Sopranos but since they have been off the air for almost 2 years, I forgot what all the hoopla was about.

Deadwood I just started watching and I like it. Kinda blew me away w/ all the "stupid cunts" and "fucking whores", but I think it is the first real western show to have their characters talk in modern day language.

Sissyroo's thoughts on language are akin to jtr's thoughts on string theory. Just sayin'

The Wire is HBO's best show.

RACK. Most underrated show on TV, by a longshot. The Wire is twice the show Sopranos is, plus the benefit of no 3 year breaks.

For those who may check out Wire, the first 5-6 shows can be a tad tedious but it's simply laying the foundation for what is to come.

I don't watch HBO much at all.
Once "The Sopranos" finishes the upcoming, and by all accounts last, season,
I'm dropping it.
