i doubt Beilein will leave WVU for Mizzou. I think Few is also a very very long shot....but money talks.
i think Altman would be a nice choice based on the tangibles, but i don't think MU could swallow enough pride to hire a KSU fire.
other names i've seen: Mike Anderson at UAB, Doherty, guy at SIU, McDermott at N. Iowa, and (yes) Steve Lavin.

According to the myopic Rebel fans on firekruger.com Huggins has expressed interest in the UNLV job and its only a matter of time before he takes over. X 1,000,000.
I agree Huggins would be a good hire for you,as would Majerus.

if it were me, Kevin Stallings at Vandy would get a look. no one lasts long at Vandy in the SEC.....and he's got midwest (chigaco, KC, STL) ties after being at Illinois St. right?
Anderson has some recruting indescrepency i've read about when working for Strollin' Nolan at Arkansas. I have no clue what it is. but i think it would be interesting (and good) for the conference to come in and play full court. kinda like Tubbs did in the early 80's.
no offense assasin, i guess somebody has to say it: Huggins at UNLV.
start counting academic all-americans.....whoa!

Missouri, Snyder both have chance to move on
Dick Vitale
SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM
Feb. 10, 2006
Obviously, one cannot be shocked with what transpired at Missouri. It has been a soap opera there. There has been no bigger supporter of Quin Snyder than yours truly.
It was by mutual agreement between the school and Snyder that he leave his position. Snyder thought it was best to step down immediately so the kids would not be caught up with the constant questioning of his status.
I have followed his career from his collegiate days as a player at Duke and observed him very closely in his role as an assistant under one of the great teachers of all time, Mike Krzyzewski. If there was one guy who, in my heart, was going to be a star in the coaching profession, it was Snyder.
Why did I feel that way? I loved his passion, enthusiasm and excitement for the game that we all love. I admired his outstanding communication skills and his boyish charm that seemed to be a natural for dealing with the modern-day athlete.
Why did this situation deteriorate? It is very simple: Quin, like many coaches -- including yours truly when I was working the sideline on the collegiate level at Detroit -- feels he can change any kid who might have a problem.
Quin's recruitment of Ricky Clemons, a player with a checkered past, created a nightmare. The Tigers, Snyder and his staff couldn't recover from all the negativity that transpired during Clemons' days on the Missouri campus. The coach and staff did not use good judgment in the evaluation process, but one has to understand the heart and the caring that come from within Quin's personality. He genuinely felt he could make Clemons a better player and better person as well.
The snowball effect with the dismantling of assistant coaches by the administration over the chaos created by the Clemons situation became too much to handle.
Obviously, the success of any program is dictated by recruiting, and this could not be an asset in the battles that take place.
Missouri will move on as Melvin Watkins, who coached at Charlotte and Texas A&M, will take over. Quin has a chance now to start with a clean slate in a different situation.
Snyder, I firmly believe, will learn from this experience as he is extremely bright, possesses a law degree and, let me tell you, the cream will rise. Nothing has changed in my belief that he can make it on the coaching sideline. He has knowledge, personality, work ethic and -- just like so many in the past who had to bounce back when hit with adversity -- I believe his training under Coach K at Duke and working in this tough, tough situation will have him prepared when the opportunity presents itself.
It is always sad to see someone you admire and respect have to deal with the pressure of trying to survive in this competitive coaching environment. Believe me, I know what he is going through mentally as I will never forget Nov. 8, 1979, when the Pistons' owner, Bill Davidson, knocked on my door and gave me the ziggy.
Snyder will find out who his genuine friends and supporters are now. You start questioning everything you have done, but as in my case and many others, Quin will say it is a small part of life.

You can add Colorado, Texas Tech, Texas ATM, and freaking Baylor to that list. Before Quin teams like K St., Nebraska and Iowa St. were jokes to us. Oklahoma and Kansas were the actual games. Now little bitches like K St. are giving us shit.
Quinn is the unlucky scapegoat for the entire dysfunctional athletic department and administration. To lay all the blame on Coach Q for Mizzou's abysmal performance on the hardwood the past few seasons is absurd. This starts at the top with president Elson Floyd, the board of curators, and AD Mike Alden. A new coach won't solve any problems by himself, no matter who it is. They need to clean house top to bottom to erase the stench of incompetence and cronyism that has over-whelmed this university the past 7 years.
The saddest day in Mizzou history is when they let Joe Castiglione get away.

Tell the truth BtH, when OU fan first heard of Joe coming to Norman, what was the prevailing opinion then?
When I first heard he was leaving, I was all like, why in the fuck would he want to leave good ol' Mizzou for the Sooners? I don't think it was about money, but maybe I'm wrong.
Turns out that he probably saw the people being brought in to run things in Columbia, and the shit storm that would someday inevitably follow, and got the fuck out while the getting was good.
Smart man.

you read the KC article???
As much as i disliked Snyder, what a chickenshit way of handling by Alden!
Having Gary Link contact Snyder
Having an asst contact Snyder
I knew when Alden said he was going out of town, that something was brewing, this gutless cunt has let Pinkel skate, yet finally pulled reigns on Snyder?
To those who think the Indy bowl bids are great: we were under .500 in the North conference, we lost to New Mexico,Kansas, KST the Big12 North is down bigtime, yet we still can't get go over.500 in conference!

Yeah, and still don't know what to make of it. Just who said what to who and when? Gary Link? You've got to be kidding me. I don't know if he resigned or was forced out, or just what the hell happened. All I know is that it's a huge fucking mess. I'd have to conclude that the inmates are running the asylum.Adelpiero wrote:Wagon/kc peeps

I didn't even have a clue that any of this had happened until I was flipping thru the channels this morning and came across the Quin Snyder show...... w/o Quin Snyder.
Gary Link is the basketball announcer on radio!(for non-Mu fans)
and he is the messenger to Snyder that he will be forced out???
What the fuck is happening down there????? Ed Stewart,Elson Floyd,Mike Alden. All of these morons keep getting passes
Floyd turned in his resignation papers to Board of curators, and they refused to accept it, then they gave him an extension! Has Buffet and his loser thugkers boosters taken control of MU????

It just keeps getting better.
610 Sports (who broadcasts Tiger games on the AM dial) reported all afternoon that Quin would be having a press conference sometime between 4 to 5 PM this afternoon. Well, 5 o'clock comes and goes and no Quin and now they are saying they have to wait until all the i's are dotted and t's are crossed on his severance agreement.
Bullshit!
What's really happening is that they are trying to get Quin to fall on his sword and admit that he actually resigned, when instead it's painfully obvious that he was forced out by classless douchebags.
Fuck Mike Alden and that whole gang of misfits pulling the strings down in Columbia. Fuck them for making Mizzou the laughing stock of the college basketball world.

now Deaton is investigating Alden, and how he forced Link to contact Snyder about being fired n shit!
this is going to get ugly.
Gary Link is one hell of a stand up guy, he got raw end of this deal, and has been left out to dry.
Alden is on the hot sseat, and reported that MU boosters are having a meeting to get together and go to currators to have Alden canned Immediately, he has a 1 million buyout option!
holy shit, as if it couldn't get worse for MU fan!

‘Tiger Talk’ tossed
Angered by MU athletic department, Harpo’s owner boots radio shows
By MIKE DeARMONDThe Kansas City Star
Missouri’s syndicated sports radio shows “Tiger Talk” and “The Mike Alden Show” are no longer welcome at Harpo’s.
Dennis Harper, owner of the vintage bar and restaurant in downtown Columbia, confirmed to The Star on Monday that he had told MU officials to take their shows elsewhere.
“Yeah, I did,” said Harper, a longtime supporter of MU athletics. “I don’t feel like there’s some honesty going on over there. They threw my friend Gary Link under the bus.”
That reference was the contention, first reported in The Star, that Alden instructed Link to tell now former basketball coach Quin Snyder that he would be terminated at the end of the season. On Sunday, Alden denied doing that.
But Harper took issue with Alden’s denial, saying that he would not allow MU’s radio show to be broadcast from Harpo’s — neither Monday night nor anytime in the future.
“I totally support Missouri’s young athletes, the kids, and (interim) coach (Melvin) Watkins,” Harper said.
“The rest of that athletic department, I don’t approve of how they are running things.”
Alden left for California on Monday, where the answering machine at his office said he would be out through Wednesday. On his answering machine, Alden’s voice informed callers that he would not be checking messages while he was out of town.
A member of the MU sports information department said that most officials were involved in a meeting Monday afternoon, so no immediate response to Harper’s action was forthcoming.
However, plans were in place for “Tiger Talk” — with Watkins replacing Snyder — and “The Mike Alden Show.” Chad Moller, MU sports information director, said the radio shows would originate from the Clinton Club at Mizzou Arena instead of Harpo’s.
Both shows are carried in Kansas City, on a delayed basis each Monday evening, by 610 AM (KCSP).

Gotta smack my own here. But first ......
Non-Mizzou fans, YOU SHOULD be having a field day with this, but you choose to ignore. Whatever. Your loss.
Mizzou fans, no need to cut-n-paste, or repeat what has already been said here.
Im left wondering if or when the NCAA sticks their noses back in this whole fucking fiasco.
Screw the whole part about Q's firing. I dont care if he was fired or resigned. I dont care who did it, or how. Based upon the coaching performance that Q showed this season, he, me, you and the whole world already knew he was gone now, or at seasons end.
The real issue in all of this is ...... how will the NCAA handle this?
Right now, I see 2 things. "Lack of Institutional Control," and "Death Penalty."
I am already of the opinion that the NCAA as a whole are a joke. However, unless many heads at Mizzou roll soon, and something is done to clean up this program, combined with the NCAA signing off when all is said and done ........ then the NCAA is an even bigger joke than I imagined.

No way. The NCAA won't drop the death penalty on a program unless something comes out like the Baylor situation. And lack of institutional control implies a history of multiple violations at all levels of the administration. A couple of recruiting issues don't get you that far. So step back off the ledge and chill.kcdave wrote:The real issue in all of this is ...... how will the NCAA handle this?

I care. This is just another mis-step in a long line of fuck-ups down in Columbia. You don't send a broadcaster to give an ultimatum to your head coach, period. If you're the AD, you do it yourself. Now we've got a whole shitload of he-said she said bullshit going on that didn't need to happen. The same crap happened when they un-ceremoniously ran Norm off. There's an endemic set of problems going on there, and Quinn was just the most visible symptom of a much larger disease.kcdave wrote: Screw the whole part about Q's firing. Being a clueless dumbfuck in how you handle personnel issues, in and of itself, doesn't violate any NCAA rules.

I doubt a retread like you could even make a joke worth chuckling over, much less come in here and offer up some righteous smack or a legit take.
Go fuck yourself.
I hate sigs. But I lost a stupid fucking bet because a KC Paul lookalike and his sorry ass team were inferior to the greatness that is the Pittsburg Steelers.
Death penalty speak on my part is a bit out of line. We all know that is a thing of the past. NCAA does not want to lose any money, and killing a program would do just that. While that point was out of line, it proves my point even more about the NCAA being a fucking joke.
Wags and Helmet ..... would you not agree that this should be an issue of I.C.? Its a total cluster fuck. The whole Ricky fiasco still lumes. In retrospect, Q, Floyd and Alden all should have been run when that came out.
Im just pissed at the whole situation. I know a fish rots from the head down, and I know the head of anything is the one with the money. The people involved in this issue with all the money are the same ones that have been calling the shots, and while Id like to think they will correct this, I have no faith they will any time soon.

Sundvold being named AD would genuinely scare me as Kansas fan. I think he's a class act and has a head on his shoulders, he could help turn Mizzou into the program it should have been for years...and that is meant with no malice or sarcasm. I genuinely believe he would be a phenomenal choice and I hope this happens.
