Carr names DeBord OCANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan head football coach Lloyd Carr announced Tuesday (Feb. 7) that assistant coach Mike DeBord has been appointed offensive coordinator. DeBord replaces Terry Malone, who accepted an assistant coaching position with the NFL's New Orleans Saints.
After two seasons as the Wolverines' special teams coach and recruiting coordinator, DeBord returns for his second stint as the team's offensive coordinator. DeBord served as offensive coordinator for three seasons (1997-99), including three straight Jan. 1 bowl victories in the Rose, Citrus and Orange bowls. U-M claimed the 1997 national championship during his initial season as coordinator.
i'm pretty sure blue land is fired up about debord, who failed miserably, spectacularly, and recruited murderers during his pathetic stint at central michigan, being named OC. yet another lloyd carr crony getting a sweet gig not because of credentials, but because he's lloyd's boy.
sweet christ, after the shit he pulled in mount pleasant, i guess i'm not really surprised he "landed on his feet" at scu-m and is now in line for a head coaching gig once lloyd retires/gets run out of town.
