Why Colorado?
I've seen a lot of brackets that have Colorado as the last Big XII team in the tourney. First of all, why Colorado?
1. A&M and Colorado have pretty much the same shit OOC schedule.
2. A&M beat Colorado head to head.
3. A&M played in the South division which is, top to bottom, tougher than the north.
4. A&M and Colorado have identical overall records.
5. A&M and Colorado have identical conference records.
6. A&M and Colorado will likely end up with the same overall and conference record going 1-1 in the final two games unless A&M can upset Texas at home or Colorado can upset Kansas on the road.
Once again...why is Colorado getting the benefit of the doubt now? I still think we need to definitely go, at worse, 1-1 to finish the season and at least win 2 games in the conference tourney to get a sniff at a bid. I just don't like seeing a team who has played about as shitty a schedule whom we beat getting the nod just because they started out like 15-3 or some shit like that.

Neither team has any case as to why they should be in. Both teams suck equally. Neither are Top 75 teams. When is A&M going to learn that going 11-0 against 11 high school teams in the non-conference slate won't get you into the NCAA tournament? A&M and Colorado have exactly 1 combined quality win (CU over OU) and you could convince me that OU is not really a quality win. If CU gets in and A&M doesn't, then so be it. A&M could have played someone with a pulse and then they wouldn't be in this situation anyways.

That's not what I asked, tard.
I have already said they both have played shit schedules. However, they are equally shitty and A&M won the head to head.
The question is...why would Colorado get in with a shittier schedule while losing the head to head at the same time and records in and out of conference are equal?

congrats on the W. a lot can still happen--you could get CU in the conf. tournament on Friday and lose? i woulnd't say ATM is a lock. the warren nolan rpi site includes tonights game and the Ags are RPI 50 up from about 58 earlier in the day.....that's still squarely on the bubble, "last 4 in, last 4 out" territory for a major conference team.IndyFrisco wrote: A&M will be in the tourney.
I'm also not assuming that Big XII gets more than 3--as in either CU or ATM.
edit: actually the Nolan site has the Ags at 49, and CU 51. i think CU is probably out....barring a head to head W over the Ags or playing on Saturday of the conference tournament. ATM's "last 10 games" category (which is one of the "committee" mantra words) will likely be pretty good, and CU's pretty mediocre. not saying it's going to happen, but i could easily see CU roll over and play dead against ISU on Sat. Also re: the seedings of the conference tournament CU also loses the potenital tiebreaker with Nebraska.

Congrats, Frisco, on an impressive Texas loss errrrr Aggie win. I think A&M is in right now as long as they finish strong. But even though A&M get credited for a win for that game last night, it really should only go down as a Texas loss. One overrated team that played its worst game in 250 years, and another lousy team that benefited from that. Granted, that was on heck of a shot at the end of the game but that was not even basketball being played. You're very lucky the Big-12 sucks. There is 1 good team in that entire conference and you caught them on their worst game of the season, props for that. But you are not safe yet. You need to win the last game and then still possibly get one in the Big-12 tourney. This does put A&M on the bubble. Not that it really matters. Whoever they face in the 1st round of the NCAA tournament is going to beat them by 60.

Thanks, hopefully we do. Just being in the mix is exciting for us right now. Been a long time. Not since '87 have we made it to the tourney...and our coach (Shelby metcalf) was running a pretty dirty program at the time so that takes away from it too.
Prior to '87, we made it in '80, '75, '69, '64. This will only be the 3rd time in my lifetime they've made it if we do.

Believe me, if I were an Aggie fan, right now I'd be going crazy considering how long its been since you've been in the tourney. I wouldn't care how we got in. And so I understand how pumped you are. Who wouldn't be? But you know your team is lousy and is only benefiting from a horrible schedule and a pitiful performance by an overrated Texas team. I'm not selling anyone short, just telling it like it is.

I love how people never stop to think that a "pitiful performance" could have been caused by the opposition.and a pitiful performance by an overrated Texas team
Even if it was, so what? Margin of victory has no relevance. On selection Sunday all the committee will look at is:
Texas A&M 46
Texas 43
And that's all that will matter.
Then if we are overrated than Iowa is the total browneye of College Basketball. Because if I am not mistaken, our overrated team punked you sorry Iowa ass.TheJON wrote:Congrats, Frisco, on an impressive Texas loss errrrr Aggie win. Even better...TheBabs has the nerve to call other teams lousy. MGO hit the nail on the head. A&M is a defense first, score second team, much like the Pistons. We don't have the guns to win a shootout. JJ, Law and Josh Carter could all click together on all cylinders though for a couple weeks and make a nice run. That's why they play the games on the floor and not on paper.Harvdog wrote:Then if we are overrated than Iowa is the total browneye of College Basketball. back on topic: the way it appears the seedings in the conf. tourny will shake out* if CU beats ISU, and then Mizzou or Baylor....looks like you've got ATM-CU in the Friday game. and as Froz points out above indirectly, ATM controlled the tempo in the first CU-ATM game....but CU is fluky and athletic on the perimeter and can create some matchup problems that turn into a more up-down the floor game and easy hoops, Roby beating his man off the dribble, and wide open 3 looks (see the last 10 minutes of the OU-CU game if you want to keep with the apt Sampson team comparisons). CU thrives on the sloppy game.
ATM really needs to win at Tech, to at minimum keep seperation from CU in the conf. standings. and the Yosemite Sams have been a thorn in teh side of the Ags before....in at least one other sport i can think of.
could be pretty interesting come next Friday.

Froz,
Yes, we do play very good D at home. The XII Championship will be in Dallas. That will be much more like a home game for the Ags when they play CU if CU gets past, I believe, ISU in the first round.
I just hope IU doesn't come knocking on Coach G's door this off-season. That's a hard gig to pass up.

I checked the Big 12 site and:
on Friday the winner of the 5-12 game plays the 4 seed.
in my scenario above: 5=CU, 12=Mizzou or Baylor; 4=ATM. it appears ATM has clinched the 4 seed with the head to head over CU even with a loss at Tech and a CU W against ISU in Boulder (tied in standings). If CU loses to ISU, they could tie NU in the standings (If NU beats MU) and lose the tiebreaker but if that happens who cares anymore? If CU beats ISU seems they are a lock for the 5 seed.

Well let's see here....a few weeks ago I called Colorado a horrible team and got ripped apart by it by someone on here (whom I forget...king crimson??). Yeah, what a ridiculous take!
Texas A&M has ZERO chance of winning an NCAA tournament game if they get in. They won't get above a 11 or 12 seed and there isn't a single 6-7 seed they'd have a punchers chance of beating on a neutral court. Wow, good for them, they finally beat 1 fucking team that has a god damn pulse! Give them a good damn cookie! Texas A&M is NOT a good team. They aren't even quality. Good defense was part of their win last night, but Texas had a lot of mental breakdowns on the offensive side. I suppose PJ Tuckers screw up at the end was "great defense?" Riiight!
Aggies were 17-52 from the field.....yeah, that's real impressive. Texas shot 8-26 from inside the perimeter. I don't care how good your D is, if a team is shooting that poorly, they're just plain having a bad night.
Face it, the Big-12 sucks, your non-conference schedule was a fucking embarrassment to major college basketball and the only reason you don't have a losing record is because of that pathetic excuse for a schedule.
Facts suck sometimes, don't they??

you've also still got your 3 Iowa teams in the Sweet 16 prediction hanging before you start thumping your chest. and you talk pretty tough for a guy who's team has played exactly, what?, 1 NCAA game in the last 3 years?
Maybe the CU coach doesn't throw his team under the bus like the ATM coach does.

This sounds eerily like the Iowa football program. And if A&M has "ZERO" chance of winning in the dance, will you place your life earnings on the line? And tell us, Karnac, who the seeds will be? Seeing as how you must know because A&M doesn't stand a punchers chance against any of the 6-7 seeds.TheJON wrote:Texas A&M has ZERO chance of winning an NCAA tournament game if they get in. I'm willing to wager A&M is better than Santa Clara, Richmond, or the other 15's who've beat 2's, or the countless 14's who've beat 3's.
