Dubya knew about how crappy NO was gonna get

Post by Bizzarofelice »

The media is drumming up this tape where Dubya is like "we're on point with the possible levee breaches" days before he said "nobody could have ever expected such a thing."

Think this story has legs?

Bush's thugs have had their asses handed to them everywhere they've set to meddling.

They were trying to gut FEMA - BOOM, several wicked Hurricane seasons in a row.

They were trying to gut our intelligence services...BAM, we get hit on 9/11.

They were trying to set up a Halliburton client state in Iraq - WHOPPO, Civil War and ballooning regional instability that is only just beginning.

Bush declared four days after the storm, "I don't think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees" that gushed deadly flood waters into New Orleans. But the transcripts and video show there was plenty of talk about that possibility — and Bush was worried too.

The video was some sort of teleconference with scientists, Dubya and NO government on the other end. Don't know if Blanco was involved.

#1 From the snippet I saw, Brownie seemed on point. He was very direct, and understood the gravity of the situation. Strange considering the picture painted of him afterwards.

#2 Bush promised that the federal government was well-supplied and ready to swoop down immediately to take hold of the situation. Strange considering what we witnessed afterwards. Why was there the great wait? Who froze?

This is chilling.
Homeland Security officials have said the "fog of war" blinded them early on to the magnitude of the disaster. But the video and transcripts show federal and local officials discussed threats clearly, reviewed long-made plans and understood Katrina would wreak devastation of historic proportions. "I'm sure it will be the top 10 or 15 when all is said and done," National Hurricane Center's Max Mayfield warned the day Katrina lashed the Gulf Coast.

Everyone except you at this point is saying it was a slow FEDERAL response, not a city or state one.

If the fed resources were so available and ready to go, why did it take 4-5 days to get food to the people at the dome?

Why are you such an absolutely pathetic apologist for this administration?

"I hope people don't draw conclusions from the president getting a single briefing," Bush spokesman Trent Duffy said, citing a variety of orders and disaster declarations Bush signed before the storm made landfall. "He received multiple briefings from multiple officials, and he was completely engaged at all times."

http://apnews.myway.com//article/200603 ... FPP0A.html
Obviously this is an example of being "fully engaged".

Try to focus. give me a reason why THAT happened, a reason that doesn't include nagin or the governor.

Bush had the authority to federalizes the NG units, and given the scope of the disaster in the gulf, should have done so the day the levees broke.

Especially given the fact they had discussed all of this beforehand.

Another truly priceless thread starring mvsPretzel.

Now, he's reverential towards FEMA. When his beloved Rove Administration was hamstringing it, it was the scourge of the Earth - an abomination that knew no parallel.

It's really funny to see this tottering simpleton juggling Rove's testicles like they were priceless Faberge Eggs. Disgusting, but funny.

No, it is an editorial. It does not report fact, it advocates a position. Either that is an editorial or you have forever forfieted your right to point out media bias ever again.

Welcome to the scrapings of the barrel. Yep, this administration is legendary for abiding by the letter of the law. No one in this administration regards themselves eligible for personally interpreting the laws of the land, much. No one is reconstructing executive priviledge along the lines of Ming the Merciless, much.

Or anything.

You know what the funniest part of this might be?

I mean, there's little debate that mvscal has taken an outright, straight-up asskicking in this thread, and he knows it. Yet in his desperation to maintain his self-imposed image as the "inside line" to the inner workings of the government, he's flailing so hard that his brain just done quit on him.

To wit:
mvscal wrote: As for the most inept official, Wilson believes that title belongs to New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, who she says is not corrupt but rather "he didn't know anything about city government or how to run a city….Its just the most unbelievable ineptness."

http://www.judicialwatch.org/corrchron/ ... s/2005/10/
So, in his defense, mvscal wants to quote this Wilson character in their assertion that there was some problems with "inept" city officials.

Doesn't sound that bad on the surface...except we're supposed to take the word on who is or isn't "inept" from a person who sat on the city council, and was either so corrupt or "inept" that they sat idly by when they claimed knowledge of a situation that could put lives at risk? That person just let these "inept" people do as they pleased, yet said nothing, and didn't bring this problem to public attention at the expense of the constituent's safety?

Would this be the sort of "inept" official she claims to be decrying?

This person is obviously either lying to get pub, or is/was every bit the "inept" city official she claims others are/were.

Either way, because of the circumstances she readily admits to, her opinion should carry about as much weight as mvscal's and less weight than the weight of the water she was sitting idly by and watch threaten the city she claimed to be working for.

Way to run your big "expose'" several years after the fact...cutting edge sense of responsibility, right there.

But hey, at least pmsgal thinks she's spot-on. So she's got that going for her.

Of course she's essentially confessed to a crime for the sake of getting herself some pub, but if a confessed criminal says W is the man, who are we to question it?
