Didn't have it marked on the calander per se, but I was aware of the significance that today holds.

And I'm guessing most people who are inclined to post on MLB BBS sites probably know, as well.

And I am sooooooo ready.

Go Stros.

Just found my favorite Astros hat last night that I thought I lost. Good sign.

The start of the spring training games is always a good thing.

BUT..

When they start calling the games where the starters go more than one inning..THAT's when I get into it.

How sad is Astrofan? They replaced Roger Clemens with... 38 year old Preston Wilson. The albatross with the goatee wants to hang out at first base and Petite is due for his 58th injury of his career.

Hope scrapiron can salvage your season in the end. With all the additions the Mets have made, wildcard might not work out for you guys.

He's 31, fuckfart...Clem is coming back in May and the Cards lineup MINUS POOOOOJOLS doesn't exactly make NL Champ fan skeert.

Spivey, Bigby, Encarsionioneione and a Ninja in the outfield?

Ooops, my bad. I forgot you guys bought Jaba the Ponson. Oh NOOOEEESSS!!!!

Preston Wilson is 31, but his knees are 86.

Spivey, Bigby, Encarsionioneione
Excellent bargain pick ups.

Ninja in the outfield?
The ninja was the best RISP hitter in the NL last year.

I forgot you guys bought Jaba the Ponson.
$1 million for the chance to be our fifth starter? Are you saying you wouldn't have made that deal? That was a genius move by Jocketty. If the former 18 game winner doesn't come through, then we'll just have to fall back on top prospect super-rookie who owned during his September call-up Anthony Reyes.

Who are the Stros throwing out there? Let's look:
#4 LHP Wandy Rodriguez went 10-10 with a 5.53 ERA in 22 starts as a rookie and will be the favorite to slide into the No. 4 spot in the rotation.

#5 Ezequiel Astacio, RHP Fernando Nieve and RHP Taylor Buchholz will battle for the final spot in the rotation. Astacio went 3-6 with a 5.67 ERA last year as a rookie, and Nieve and Buchholz had strong years at Triple-A Round Rock.

Any confidence there, Strofan? Wild card will likely come from the NL East this year. You're going to have to win a whole lot of games to win the NL Central, and throwing out those two dead-armed rookies for 40% of the games will make that difficult.

I'm calling for an 85-win season for the Motor City Kitties. If the offensive stars can stay healthy, this team can slug with anyone in the AL. They just don't have the starting pitching to hang with the contenders. Leyland will run a tight ship and hopefully we don't see the same lack of effort and hustle that we saw under Trammell.

Does Leylend know anything about Detroit or the players yet? he sure didn't when he waws hired. Kind of odd he'd admit that...
