DVD Burning Problems
I am using Nero to burn, DVD Shrink 3.2 to package and DVD Decrptor to decrpypt. Until now, this has worked flawlessly.
All of a sudden, I'm getting an error when trying to do the Open Files with DVD Shrink. Says something about overlapping I/O processes. Don't have the exact error message right now.
Anyone else have this problem? I stopped a lot of services recently on my machine because there was a lot of crap running that I didn't think I needed. I went ahead and burned an older DVD and it worked just fine. That makes me think the DVD's now have some kind of encryption that is disabling the burn.
I had this problem on Flight Plan and Proof.
Any other freebie software packages I should try instead of Nero/Shrink/DVD Decryptor? I just downloaded ImgBurn. It's supposed to replace DVD Decryptor, but I was having my problems in Shrink.

What you are looking for is a program called VOB Blanker.
Apply VOB Blanker, then rip using DVDDecrypter.
Shrink (if you need) using DVDShrink, then burn with NERO.
Sorry, I don't have a link for VOB Blanker right now, but I've used it previously on
some "problematic" rips.

Far be it from me to tell you that you're wrong in this forum but when I want to make a copy of a dvd I simply load up DVD Shrink, rip the disc image to my hard drive.. and then I load up DVD Decrypt and burn it to a disc. I've never used Nero or any other program aside from that other ripper/burner program whose name escapes me from the company that went out of business.ElTaco wrote:Last time I checked, you needed Nero or some other burner installed to burn the DVD movies in DVD Shrink and Decrypt. You can rip the dvd without it but you will need it to burn.jiminphilly wrote:You can usually rip and burn with Shrink and Decrypt only.
Why the use of Nero?
That's exactly what I do as well.when I want to make a copy of a dvd I simply load up DVD Shrink, rip the disc image to my hard drive.. and then I load up DVD Decrypt and burn it to a disc.

VOB Blanker is cool. I use that and Menu Shrink to get rid of most of the crap that they put on DVDs (like trailers and lame extras) without having to reauthor the disc.
There are some other cool tools out there, but I haven't kept up because I haven't done much "backing up" lately. Now I just rip or download an xvid copy that looks just as good.

You are always welcome to tell me that I am wrong. I don't claim to know everything. If I don't like it I can always find you in AA and shoot you in the ass. However, I still would like to say that according to DVD Shrink's website, you need a DVD burner installed before you can burn a DVD:jiminphilly wrote: Far be it from me to tell you that you're wrong in this forum but when I want to make a copy of a dvd I simply load up DVD Shrink, rip the disc image to my hard drive.. and then I load up DVD Decrypt and burn it to a disc. DVD Shrink websiteDVD Shrink will also burn your backup DVD, if you have installed the latest version of Nero. You can download a demo version of Nero here. If you already possess alternative burning software and prefer to stick with it, then you can still use DVD Shrink. The output from DVD Shrink can be saved as files on your hard drive, which you can then burn with software of your choice.
I haven't had that much experiance with DVD Decrypter and I don't see the same kind of limitation mentioned in its description so we can always just say we were both right.

ET in the grand scheme of things, I don't know jack shit about computers... I really only understand the basics. However I have used shrink and decrypt a few times so I had a good idea that they worked together (shrink actually gives you the prompt after it's done ripping to load dvd decrypt to burn).ElTaco wrote:You are always welcome to tell me that I am wrong. As for AA.. I've got mad skillz now..
I am killing a lot more than I've been getting killed.. and it figures you'd be trying to shoot something in my ass, perv. :P
88 also plays from time to time but I have yet to find him on a server. I'll pm you my screen name and you can do a search in the new browser menu to see if I am on when you decide to play.
DVD Shrink does use Nero or another burning program. Personally, I just use it to create the ISO file. I'll be interested to try some of the reauthoring tools Donovan has mentioned.
All of the backups I've made have looked fine on-screen, despite a varying amount of compression.
