Conference Tourney Rules/Prizes

Post by Sky »

All,
I know Shine puts up an "award" for winning the regular season so I figure I will do the same for this. It won't be a signed picture of Mike Davis or anything grand like that but I will spread some Buckeye love.

Also, unless I hear any objections, I am going to award two points (as opposed to the regular one point) if a person's pick wins their respective tournament.

True story. My parents were at a charity event back in September and they were holding a silent auction on various pieces of sports memorabilia. All local stuff: Colts, Pacers, Tony Stewart, and the local colleges of course. End of the evening the autographed pic of IU football coach Terry Hoeppner sold for $50 while the autographed pic of Mike Davis had received exactly ZERO bids.
"Our staff is going to ensure that anyone who attends this University and wears the Indiana uniform will make this privilege among their highest priorities and not treat the opportunity as an entitlement,'' Crean said in a statement. "We fully expect our student-athletes to accept the responsibilities academically, athletically and socially that come with representing one of the top programs in college basketball history."

Anyone else realize that the MEAC tournament is OBE. The tourney started on the 7th of March. Then again, I'm not sure the tourney chairperson should be faulted here...he is a buckeye after all.

You could award 500 points....it just doesn't matter as long as you only give points for picking the winner. It's just easier to count in ones.

Well I think I said it before, you get one point for each of your team's wins. Thus, even if UNC doesn't win (I still can't believe you picked them) but makes it to the final, you will get your two points.

On the other hand, I picked Duke so when they win, I will get one point for each of their wins plus a bonus point for them winning the conference tourney.

I agree that a bonus point should be awarded for picking the winner.

Someone could just go out on a limb and make a dumbass off the wall pick but weird things happen in tournies. I think accuracy should be rewarded.

I would like to thank everyone for the opportunity to play. Watching UConn lose hurt a bit. Then seeing Charlotte and Bethune-Cookman lose made things more uncomfortable. When Washington decided not to show up and Air Force didn't want to play again in Denver, well I think I'm done.
My math shows I've got 4 points and 5 conferences where I can't get any points. Not good odds...

I hope you stick around regardless. We could use some new blood around here. I think we have only picked up a handful of real, non troll, new posters in the last couple of years. An infusion of some new blood may be just what we need.

Well, I plan to. I may even start up something on the realm of College Hockey. Where most people live and die by the College Football, me it has been hockey. I'm headed to Beantown this weekend in the hopes of watching Boston College get swept by Vermont and not make the NCAAs. Besides, there needs to be some non-Big 10 football chatter in here from what I can tell. Sky, there is football outside of the Tiny Ten

I have always been interested in college Hockey, the NHL just doesn't excite me much anymore. The Olympics were the most enjoyable hockey I had seen in a very long time. Just never have been exposed to it much.

I didn't read the rules. We get one point for every game our selected team wins, and a bonus pint if they win the conference championship?

Makes sense now.
