Once again American professional athletes tank it
Losing to CANADA?
In baseball?
The only thing that would have been better would be if the US team had been mercy ruled.
Yea, that WBC really means a lot to these guys.
This abortion can't end quickly enough. Just give me real baseball and stop trying to pretend this crap is important.

No one's forcing you to watch it. It beats watching a split-squad spring training game. I liked the idea from the beginning...I just wish the players took to it more. Maybe they need to play this at a different time of the year instead of right before the season. To call this a failure after to just two round-robin games isn't really giving it a chance. Let it play out first before you start bashing it.

We better mercy South Africa. This loss to Canada is unacceptable. I hope we meet the Canucks again.

Who said I was watching it? They have this thing called ESPN. Maybe you've heard of it. They report sporting "news", including those WBC games.Shoalzie wrote:No one's forcing you to watch it.
Personaly I plan of giving the WBC about as much attention as I did the Winter Olympics. And the only reason I care that much is to see the whole thing blow up in Bud Selig's face.

That's because some of you enjoy swinging from Selig's nutsack. Enjoy the view. The rest of us will wait for real baseball to start in a month.SunCoastSooner wrote:If you're not watching then quit bitching about it bozo. Some of us are enjoying this shit.

The bottom line...it's baseball.
Hate to tell you this but Selig isn't going anywhere and me not watching the WBC isn't going to force him out of office. If you've got a grudge with the commish, that's your issue. I don't see how watching the WBC is any different than watching the regular MLB season...Selig has his hands on both things. If you're such a Selig-hater...just stop watching baseball all together. I'm sure he'll be all broken up over it.

Dear Paul Tagliabue,

I'm sure of a lot of his frustration has more to do with what the Pirates aren't able to do than the WBC itself. Selig isn't doing enough to help the Kansas Citys and Pittsburghs and Tampa Bays and he's not keeping the New Yorks and Bostons and Los Angeleseseseses from spending out of their ass. He doesn't have the cajones to put a cap on spending and find a way to spread the wealth among all teams but to hate the WBC because of that doesn't make a lot of sense. If you're concerned about the health of the players during the tournament...join the club, I think all fans are. To just have this out and out grudge with Selig isn't my problem or anyone else's. Just stop following the MLB if it bothers you so much.

Do you cats even know how to handle the round bats instead of those silly paddles your cricket players use?

I could care less about the health of the players in the tournament. Injuries happen. I just think it is a joke. It is obvious that the US players could give a shit about this, otherwise they wouldn't have gotten jacked by a bunch of single A players from Canada sporting a grand total of 12 innings of MLB experience.Shoalzie wrote:Zing!

But that has nothing to do with the fact that the Pirates will never win a World Series as long as the current revenue system is in place.

So then what is your beef with Selig? Yes this is a pet project of his and the American players aren't showing nearly as much passion for their country as the Latin players are. That's not his fault. I love the idea of an international tournament...we just need to put it at a better time than before spring training when guys aren't nearly in top form. I'm not going to lose sleep if the Americans don't win the whole thing but since it's on TV and a lot of great players are participating, I'll give it a look. It doesn't hold a candle to other international tournaments in other sports but we've never seen anything like this in baseball and it's been pretty exciting so far. No one is forcing you to watch it or talk about it so just leave it be and watch those thrilling spring training games between a bunch of guys who are ticketed for AAA and AA in a few weeks.

I have plenty to beef with Selig about. To list a few.Shoalzie wrote:So then what is your beef with Selig?
1. The abortion that has become the All Star Game
2. Playoff Games in late October
3. Doing nothing while the integrity of the game was destroyed by players like Bonds, Sosa, Palmiero and McGuire.
4. Allowing the competitive balance of baseball to deteriorate to the point where low revenue teams are forced to dismantle championship caliber teams in the name of economic sanity.
5. 1994
It is his fault for trying to sell this abortion as if it is real baseball.Yes this is a pet project of his and the American players aren't showing nearly as much passion for their country as the Latin players are. That's not his fault.
I'll watch neither. College hoops and PGA golf will do just fine until this crap is over. I once hit a home run against the Boston Red Sox. Alright, maybe it was Boston, Lincolnshire, and it was an inside-the park homer (because there were no fences), but I stand by my extraordinary feat.Shoalzie wrote:Nishlord wrote:Dear Paul Tagliabue,

Actually, it's fucking hard to hit a baseball at first. But I'd like to see your lot handle a googly.

The USA arguably has the best baseball talent, but the WBC isn't the first time
in sports history that America has demonstrated its ability to waste talent
while other countries take advantage by utilizing theirs.

What a shitty troll job.
Damn, Bri...
Selig sucks. HARD. But the WBC does not. It should be in November where there would be much more participation but this is still quite enjoyable.
Funny also that the Pirates' best player..........is a Canadian.
