$60 mil over 6 years.
Do they trade down now w/ the #2 pick, or do they take The Brick?
In a related note, Norm Chow does the Icky SHuffle in tennessee now that he can take Leinart.

I'd like to see how much of that 60 million is guaranteed money before assuming the Saints won't pick Lienart.

8 to 10 million guaranteed for a guy with a busted wing????mvscal wrote:Condon was hinting that the guaranteed money New Orleans put on the table was something like four to five times the 2 million guaranteed money that the Chargers were offering.
The Bolts made him a reasonable offer, but if somebody is going to overpay, there isn't much you can do about it.
OK, I guess they are going to continue to be the Saints.

The Saints way overpaid. $10 mill guarenteed, or something like that, for a guy coming off a torn labrum, no fucking way.
Fellow Charger fans, get a grip. Sure Brees is a decent quarter back but he was not worth the kind of jack Condin was asking for. After many miserable seasons he led the team to a one and out playoff season in 2004 followed up by an underachieving 9-7 season. He is/was not the "Savior", what did he actually prove? A top notch quarterback worth the money he was looking for would be able to overcome Martys idiotic tendencies.

Concur, however Brees was at the point in his career where he made very few mistakes, and had the confidence of the team behind him.
With a new QB taking over, I'd say give it 2-3 years to reach the same comfort level (team chemistry). By then L.T. will have deminished skills, and we'll be looking for a lamont Jordan somewhere.
I thought we had an excellent chance to go all the in the next 2 years, but no way in hell with Rivers at the helm.

He started over fifty games in college and has been sitting on the bench for the last two years.
If he isn't ready to go now, he'll never be ready.
...since when does sitting on the bench prepare you for game action and split second decisions? It's one thing to watch from the sidelines, and another to have NFL defenses trying to decapitate you.
I'm not down on Rivers, I just know from experience there is a transition period. (Rothlisberger notwithstanding)

Even Big Ben had some rough patches his first year under center.ChargerMike wrote:...since when does sitting on the bench prepare you for game action and split second decisions? It's one thing to watch from the sidelines, and another to have NFL defenses trying to decapitate you.

The big winner in all this are people who own Tomlinson in dynasty leagues. Look for Martyball to come back with a vengance. LT might just break the 2000 yard mark next year.

Yea, I heard some other dipshit say the same thing about another AFC West running back. Too bad neither of you dipshits saw that both Pittsburgh and Seattle are on the schedule along with Baltimore. KC even has to contend with J-Ville. Throw in a few 65-75 yard games and the fool has to average 135-145 ypg. I know, your dumbass must think that if Jamal can do it, anyone can.BSmack wrote: Look for Martyball to come back with a vengance. LT might just break the 2000 yard mark next year.
He had two things going for him when he did it, talent and a favorable schedule. Who takes the focus off of LT here too or is Rivers already a "household name" like Big Ben?

The Steelers were on the Ravens schedule when Jamal had his 2000 yard season. But, I'll humor you. Here's the Bolt's schedule.Dumbass wrote:Yea, I heard some other dipshit say the same thing about another AFC West running back. (keep providing the great material)
Home: Denver, Kansas City, Oakland, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Arizona, St. Louis, Tennessee
Away: Denver, Kansas City, Oakland, Baltimore, Cincinnati, San Francisco, Seattle, Buffalo
I see a lot of soft rushing defenses. And don't forget, Tiki Barber tore up Seattle for 150 yards. So it's not as if Seattle can't be run on.

In addition Rivers is smart, athletic and even tall.
Not too much to worry about.

...but do you see 2 games where you think he can go over 500 yards to allow for some unproductive days? The west itself is not as soft as it was when Jamal and Ricky tore it up and it wasn't even the west that allowed the 500+ yards in two games. There's also plenty of poor weather road games and we aren't sure where those planes will be touching down in December yet. LT has not topped 1700 yet and this is when SD had a growing QB. Plus, LT gets the ball down field a lot more than Jamal ever has. Being the #1-2 receiver on his team will hurt his chances to accumulate rushing yards. LJ probably has a better opt but does he produce the same without the head man running the show? Does have the steel to pound 16 games? I think it's funny that peeps toss this out there like this is something that can be expected. Your counter part myopian is blabbering like this is a lock for his boy after playing a 9 game season. I have seen similar (SIMILAR) production from a short season before and I have also seen it not repeated. He also blabs this after seeing his other boy get ran into the ground.

Rivers will probably be a good NFL QB, but it is going to take more than a couple of games for him to get up to speed. Think Carson Palmer.

So what, the NFL landscape is littered with NCAA record holders and coaches sons who failed. However, I am not saying he is going to fail. He will do well. It will take more time than a few games, though.mvscal wrote:OK. I'm thinking Carson Palmer. A guy with one good college season, three very shaky ones and one year on the bench in the NFL.
Rivers is the son of a coach, started 51 games, was MVP of five bowl games and is one of the all time statistical leaders in NCAA history with two years on the bench in the NFL.
You people are acting like he's a rookie who skipped his senior year.
