btw.......have you done anything about that river of diarreah running through your city? It's disgusting and reminds me of your goaltending. That is to say, all runny and shit.....no stopping power.
shitty goaltending
nice pick-up.....Roloson......![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Who scored a goal on his first shift with the Wings...he's a +1 and averaging around 10 minutes in his two games in Detroit. The Wings are relying on Cross to be a difference maker like the Oilers are expecting Roloson and Samsonov to be.Joey Moss wrote:Roloson smack from the team who's key deadline pick up was Corry Cross?
As for your situation with making the playoffs...the Wings aren't laying down for anyone. They've got Dallas 4 points behind them for first in the West and they need to hold off Nashville as well. The Wings have plenty to play for. I don't think they're too concerned with Carolina for #1 overall...that only matters if you make it to the finals. The Wings did you a favor on Wednesday by beating Anaheim. 5th-8th in the West and the Northwest Division are far from being decided...gotta handle your business.

War the Wings being on HNIC...hopefully they don't black it out on Center Ice tonight because the game is being shown locally on FSN

Good point...hasn't played all that well since the Olympic break. 20 goals allowed in his 5 starts since the season resumed. I don't think we've got a goalie contraversy in Detroit...I think it's Manny's job unless he gets hurt. He's just going through a rough stretch but he has won 3 of those 5 starts because his teammates have been picking him up. This'll be his first game against Edmonton this year...Ozzie was in goal for the two OT losses earlier in the season. With the this being the front end of a back-to-back, I'm willing to bet Osgood will start tomorrow unless Manny looks really sharp tonight and Babs wants to keep him in a groove and start him tomorrow night in Vancouver.
Since he's only played 2 games you don't really know what you've got. He's a 6'5" defensman who plays like he's a 5'6". Expect 1-2 brain farts per night... Having said that, he is a good team guy.Shoalzie wrote:Who scored a goal on his first shift with the Wings...he's a +1 and averaging around 10 minutes in his two games in Detroit. Edmonton kept Ulanov over Cross. Ulanov sucks, but Cross was worse.

The less he plays, the less chances he has to make a mistake. Also, he's playing with Kronwall...he's not expected to handle to puck in his own end. He makes a decent first pass but I'm sure the Wings would prefer he just plays the stay at home role and let Kronwall start the rush. The funny thing was the other night...I think it was against Chicago...a bad giveaway behind the goal let to a Blackhawks goal or a near goal. I immediately thought it was Cross that was responsible. Nope, it was Kronwall making a careless pass. Cross is in a different role than he's been used to. In Edmonton and Toronto, he was expected to be bigger part of their blueline. In Detroit, he's pretty much 6a or 6b along with Woolley. I bet they will alternate games depending on the opponent. If it is against a quicker and more skilled team, they'll play Woolley. If it's more of a cycling and checking team, they'll go with Cross. All of his minutes have been even strength...he'll have to earn the trust of the team to play on the PK.
Sorry about that...
At least you got a point out of it. Pisani saved your bacon from getting nothing at all...with a little assist from the stick of Nick Lidstrom. As much as you guys wanted that game last night...the Wings take the overall lead in the NHL as well as stay 4 points ahead of Dallas and don't allow Nashville to gain ground. The Predators did you guys a favor by hammering the Flames, 9-4...you're only 3 points out of first place in the Northwest. Big game again tonight with Vancouver...the Canucks can tie the Avalanche for 5th place with a win. Calgary is in action again today against the Wild, the Avs are in San Jose and the Ducks face the Blue Jackets. Four really big games in the West today...gonna have plenty to watch along with Day 2 of the second round of the Big Dance.

Get off it...the game has been called the same way all year. For better or worse, they've been consistent. Should it shock you that the #1 power play would victimize you? Plus, you had plenty of chances in the first period...I thought you should've ran away with the game with how it looked after 20 minutes.
Shoalzie, not even a rabid Wings fan like yourself could deny that the tripping call on Torres with Yzerman was a load of shit. Or the two ridiculous non calls in OT. You know when Ron Tugnutt is noticing bad calls that they are pretty apparent.
Sure the game has been called that way all year...for Detroit I'm sure it has. When you have players like Stevie Y and the like you see the officials call it tighter than most. Its been happening for years and you know it.
Sure the Oil blew it with goaltending and some other legitimate penalties but that doesn't take away from the fact that the refs brutalized a game and made asses out of themselves.

The Torres call was shaky but you killed off the penalty. The calls aren't always going to go your way and don't tell me the Wings get the calls every night. There's been several games where the calls seemed to all go against them and they were grumbling about it afterwards. Nobody is happy with how the game is called but like I said, they've been pretty darn consistent. The new hooking...the stick parallel to the ice that is held against the other player's body...has been called all year. The Wings get a few breaks here and there but refs have been guilty all year about makeup calls or just piling on one team over the other. You won the edge on power plays, 6-5...the difference was that the Wings converted twice, the Oilers went dry on their chances. The NHL has become a special teams game and the Wings are probably the best in both areas.
Enough whining about the refs GreaserFans... you guys have had enough smiling from the hockey gods in the past couple games that you should have expected something to go against you sooner or later.
Has Lowe locked up that broken stick long term yet? He's nails in OT. MacT shoulda had him out there killing penalties vs. the Wings.

Hockey gods smiling? we're 2-2-2 since the trade deadline. And our goaltending woes continue... That's hardley anything to thank the gods over.JD wrote:Enough whining about the refs GreaserFans... you guys have had enough smiling from the hockey gods in the past couple games that you should have expected something to go against you sooner or later.

Pronger broke his stick at the point and dropped it there. I wonder how the peice of broken stick ended up in the middle of the ice? It's not like the defensive players every move broken sticks into the middle of their zone to hinder cross ice passes... hmmm?
Hey, you still arguing that the flames are more than Kipper after that 9-4 pounding Boucher took last night?
GET-ZKY!!!!
I can live with one or two bads calls a game provided they go equal both ways. I for one am not oblivious to the fact that once in awhile the Oil get a gift from the officials. As long as the bad calls go both ways which in last night's case did not happen.Shoalzie wrote:The Torres call was shaky but you killed off the penalty. You trying to say that vets don't get treated differently by the refs?
JD---I hear broken stick is holding out for more money

I think Lidstrom is going to set a career high for penalty minutes this year while winning the Norris Trophy, again. Chelios has grown very frustrated with the officiating. Yzerman has been vocal about his displeasure as well. I'm sure those guys work the officials but the Wings probably don't get nearly as many calls as they did when Scotty used to play mind games with the refs.
The Wings are a brilliant puckhandling team that draws a lot of calls just from teams chasing them around and grabbing them and pulling them down. I don't think a lot of that has to do with who is being held...it's the style of play the Wings have been playing all year. They dominate time of possession and draw penalties and then pump in a couple power play goals each game.
Probably, but I didn't see the game, so I don't really know how that shellacking unfolded.Joey Moss wrote:Hey, you still arguing that the flames are more than Kipper after that 9-4 pounding Boucher took last night?
I'm guessing you didn't either, so conclusions can hardly be drawn on either side.

They didn't make any calls that outright screwed the Oil but 2 blatant tripping calls within 45 secionds of each other in OT could have made a serious difference.
Lidstrom was taking brutal penalties but hey, when skills start to slack a bit due to age you do what you have to I guess.

He'll be 36 next month and he leads all defensemen in points, he's averaging more than a point-a-game and he's only 5 points from tying his career high of six years ago...he's not exactly over the hill. He's probably not as quick as he used to but this new NHL and the amount of power play time he gets...he's definitely reaping the benefits. As for penalties...with his next penalty, he'll set a new career high in that. I don't know how much of it is diminished skills or stricter enforcement of the rules. Nick uses the stick more than the body...he probably gets caught more for his use of the stick on defenders than ever before.
By the way...you're welcome for the ass-kicking we gave the struggling Canucks last night. I know you guys have 3 in a row with them coming up. You might knock them out of the playoffs all together if you sweep that mini-series.
