With Allen added , the average weight of the line is around 320 lbs . Plus , they can move around Smiley , put Kwame on the pine , and the running game will get a huge boost . Also , Allen is familiar with Norv Turner's offfense , and can provide leadership to the younger lineman .

It's a good signing . You know you would have spit your Cheetos out of your mouth Paul , screaming " SUPER BOWL BOUND BABY " if the Chefs signed him .

Exactly. Dallas is dumping him to save money and open a spot for someone who can still produce.

It's still a good signing , regardless .

Hell , the running game just got a shot in the arm .

And Veteran leadership from a future HOF who can still play , is better money spent than what the Skins have been overpaying for .

? Its still a good signing, regardless.? WTF? He's a shadow of his former self. He's not a leader. And you didn't fuck up as bad as another team?

Welcome to the new Niners..just happy to be here. :meds:

Considering what the Skins paid for talent that hasn't sniffed at what Allen has proven ( like Andre Carter , Brandon Lloyd , and Adam Archuleta were paid ) , paying 8 million for a team need is valid . Plus , Allen is familiar with the offense , is familiar with Warhop and Turner , adds needed depth and leadership . The Niners need that .

Hell , he represented Dallas in the last Pro-Bowl . Allen might find some new legs in SF .

Pending the physical , of course .

I dunno , you see it differently than most opnions I've heard , or read , from Dallas fans .

You'll find that Neck is one bittter fuck. You would be too, if you were a Cowboy fan.

Larry Allen is finally with the team he always wanted to be on in the first place.

You need to remember... Cowboy fan just lost quite possibly the best OL in history. He is without question the strongest player in NFL history(bench presses 700 lbs, and squats 900 lbs)

How many people do you know that are big and strong... where age is the problem?

Barry Bonds is in his 40's and is better than anyone to ever play, still.

Larry Allen was an All-Pro last year and is only 34. Hell, didn't the skins bring back a lineman in his 40's???

Like a chick told me... 40 now a days is like being 30, twenty years ago.

Hey, 32

Sports to me is entertainment, nothing more.

However they become the best player is something I don't really care about.

P.S. Most linemen have been on roids for quite a long time.

Yes, use Bonds as an example of a great athlete in his latter years. Now, will Larry Allen start using steroids ala BB... go ask that chick.

Allen made the Pro Bowl last year on reputation only.

And again with the Skins..why do they keep popping up in Whiner fans conversation? Is that the franchise youse guys seek to emulate??

Gasp...there not from the west coast! Horrahs..

Here's Larry Allen and what he brings to the table.

Larry All-Pro Allen and his attitude

Here's a clip of Koiser(who's replacing Allen) for the Cowboys.

Koiser #69 taking over for Larry Allen

The Niners, once again get over on the Crackwagon with this exchange of players.

Allen-itis?

FOXSports.com has learned that former All-Pro Cowboys lineman Larry Allen has agreed to a two-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers. The deal is contingent upon the lineman passing a physical and then actually signing the contract. However, terms have been agreed upon, and it's believed to pay Allen between $4 and $5 million per year.
Allen has been the NFL's premier offensive lineman since coming into the NFL from Sonoma State, a small college close to the 49ers complex. In addition to versatility that has landed him Pro Bowl nods at several different spots on the line, he is also widely considered the most intimidating player in the NFL.

Allen is so strong that many players over the years have come up with mysterious illnesses or injuries the week prior to having to play the perennial Pro Bowler, an ailment that defenders call "Allen-itis."

"It got to the point where you'd see guys pull up with some fake injury in the fourth quarter the week before he'd have to play Larry," Giants Pro Bowl defensive end Michael Strahan once said. "It's sad. You're watching film and he hurts so many guys on film that his opponents don't want to deal with him."

Other team executives and coaches admit that some of their players have fallen down or flopped aside just to get out of Allen's way. His legend has certainly helped as his skills and body have aged.
Getting Allen marks perhaps the 49ers' most significant free-agent pickup since Mike Nolan became head coach.
In addition, Allen's former line coach with Dallas, George Warhop, is now the line coach with the 49ers.

Allen is nowhere near where he was back in the mid 90's, early 00's. So his reputation has followed him throughout the years and he probably got two or three Pro Bowl honors he did not deserve.

I think he might have a year or two left at best, and his play won't be as dominant as it was back in the day. Congrats on the signing Whinerfan.

If he can teach the youngins' how to play hard , and help them learn Turner's offense , that's good enough for me .
