I grew up listening to Buck, Merle, Gene Autry, Bill Monroe, Sons of the Pioneers, George Jones, Conway.

These fucking modern country artist's ( Chesney and types) could not stand on their music alone ever. When Randy Travis starts showing up on Classic Country CD's from Time Warner, something is seriously wrong.

I will keep listeing to the old guys, keep trying to play the way they do or did, and listen to the younger ones, Travis, Jackson, Stuart, etc that follow the true traditional country music.

My foremen keeps the shop radio on "new " country all fucking day long. When he goes out in the field, it goes back to classic rock. I heard one fucking song on there today that was worth a fuck, by Donny VanZant. The rest are the Nashville manufactured Kenny Chesney, Gretchen Wilson (nice ass) types, that they can get the 18-35 crowd to drop their jack on.

One of my sons and his girlfriend came in the house when the son in law and I were working on "Branded Man" by Merle Haggard. We had the CD on, he had lead and I was picking rythum. They thought it sounded pretty cool, and they have had to listen to classic country in my house.

The best was seeing a livid Chet Atkins on some interview show during the country music purge - he pulled out an LP of his from a record shop that had two massive stickers stuck on the front - one was a cowboy hat with an 'X' through it and the other said 'file under jazz'.
He was frothing, one of the best tirades on the subject I'd ever heard. Shame how they were all shuttled out.

Shame.,.. they should have been shot. It could not have possibly been a musician that did that, since anybody who has a specific style of play named after them does not deserve that disrespect.

I know a few professional musicians. I am not up to their level by any means, but we share a love for the music. I pick bluegrass, and have got to meet a lot of great people. I visited with Ricky Skaggs in December at a festival, and he told me he was soooo glad he was finally out of his long term deal he had been stuck in. He made a lot of money, and played the big houses, in front of the big names, but he was told what to play and when to play it. He loves what he is doing now, has his own production company, and is .....having fun !!

A lot of these guys rode a wave for a while, and established a good base. The fucking bimbo DJ bitches they have on country radio these days are a bunch of orgasming airheads. They suck . They play shit like Kenny Chesney all the time.

Fuck Nashville.

I saw George Jones drop a similar kind of meltdown. Something about the CMA nominating one of his songs but not allowing him to perform it at the awards show when all the other nominees were. His words were something to the effect of "I would have been the only one singing a country song at that thing". I couldn't agree more with how every one here seems to feel about Nashville pushing the older acts out the door. It fucking sucks.
