Oil Change Today
Called the service dept. Thursday. Can I bring my car in for an oil change tomorrow? Yes, but we're really busy, you're going to have to leave it a couple hours. What about Saturday? Yes, Sat. is not as busy, bring it in about 1:00. Ok, can you check my left turn signal too? Yes, but in that case you're going to have to leave it all day. It's blinking really fast. Oh the bulb is going out. see you at 8:30.
rack the "10 minute" oil change joints !!
My car is coming up on its 101 K change--
I know some of the purists here think you
have to change your own oil--BUT
not for me in a long time !!

trev... you better do this before you leave that 10 minute hack job garage... Have them show you the drain plug bolt is actually tightened and check the oil level.
Tuurn signal blinking fast? If it's a Ford, you are looking at replacing a part in the steering column that will cost you $400. Or it could just be the fuse thingy-ma-bob under the dash. I'm sure Dins will chide you in the right directioon.![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Your car has a burned out bulb.Trev Wrote:
The real reason I'm taking the car in for the oil change and not putting it off for another month is because the turn signal blinking real fast is annoying.
Almost as simply to replace, as is doing your own oil change.
While your at it, make sure your car gets a ->New Oil Filter

my younger son once had his car in for some
work and he had them change the oil--
they forgot to put new oil in after draining
out the old !!
he got a few blocks before the engine siezed
up--- they rebuilt his engine and gave him
a loaner while they did it !!
nice going--
licensed NY repair shop and all !!

Dealerships are the way to go even though you may pay more. The Goodguys is probably the best franchise out Southwest. They have really good technicians and they get most of their parts from the dealships themselves or from NAPA.

It depends on the store. They have a high turnover rate for designers because there is too much demand on their time from people that have money and are rude. Before you do anything, ask to see the work in a portfolio of what the designer has done.trev wrote:AP,
Would you happen to know if Home Depot is the way to go for a kitchen remodel, or another type of contractor?
I know a guy that works at Home Depot and he showed me "before and after" pics of kitchens he's designed. He's a computer geek also so he tells me things.

I ask because there are scams... though the only oil-change one i know of to look out for is the putting the same oil back in that they took out one :?Dinsdale wrote:It's not a "scam" thing -- it's a "competence" thing.Risa wrote:what is the scam on this one?
And an outdated one, since most oil-changeries use a pump that precludes the removal of the drain plug.
fucking mechanics. :(

I returned a few days later to bitch at them, and of course they denied slamming the hood. I just had to pay the damage myself and chalk it off as a lesson. No garage would ever admit to something like this.
If you're in the right, fight them.
If you're not in the right, don't bother bringing it up to them in the first place.

Why don't you just shut up and find some other forum to ruin threads in?
