What Howard Stern really thinks of his fans.
Howard Stern Lashes Out at Some Fans
Fri Mar 31, 4:20 PM ET
Howard Stern is angry more fans haven't followed him to satellite radio. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the 52-year-old shock jock lashes out at those of his fan base who haven't made the transition to Sirius Satellite Radio.
In January, Stern moved his popular and bawdy morning show to the subscription satellite radio provider.
"I was just at my psychiatrist and I said, `I just got great news: We hit the 4 million mark. And I'm angry. It should be 20 million,'" Stern says in the magazine, on newsstands Monday.
"It's insulting to me that everyone hasn't come with me. I take it personally," he says.
"I want to say to my audience ... `You haven't come with me yet? How dare you? We're up to wild, crazy stuff, the show has never sounded better. You cheap bastard!'"

In February, CBS Radio, formerly known as Infinity Broadcasting, filed a lawsuit against Stern for improperly using airtime to promote his new show on Sirius.
Stern has claimed the lawsuit is without merit.
I'm sure it was in jest, but from what I have downloaded and from what friends of mine with sirius have said, paying to listen just for Stern just isnt worth it. He's become stale and bitter. Now does he want the 20 million listeners? Or their cash? Hell if I was Stern and I',m trying to get as many listeners as possible I'm dropping this "Everyone is stealing from me and I created everything" crap and heading at full speed onto making the show better and entertaining again.

You (and your friends) couldn't be more wrong. His show is at its absolute best on Sirius. I've been listening to Stern for 15 years, so I consider myself to be an expert in Stern listening ( ).but from what I have downloaded and from what friends of mine with sirius have said, paying to listen just for Stern just isnt worth it.
Not everything is a homerun but the ability for them to say and do anything they want has been a real plus. I'd pay triple the price to listen.

i would pay for an r rated version of the old stern, but, if his sirius gig is just a continuation of the whine-a-thon his show has become over the past 5 years with naughty words added, I'll pass.
I am considering getting sat radio just for the comedy channels. Went to lunch a few weeks ago with a guy from work who had xm in his rental car. he says he hasn't switched from the comedy station the whole two weeks he had the car.

He's free of the FCC so he isn't whining about that anymore. He's been on a rampage over CBS suing him for $500 Million but who can blame him.smackaholic wrote:i would pay for an r rated version of the old stern, but, if his sirius gig is just a continuation of the whine-a-thon his show has become over the past 5 years with naughty words added, I'll pass.
Trust me, the show is great on Sirius.
Re: What Howard Stern really thinks of his fans.
I had Sirius already, so I didn't switch for Stern. But now that football season is over, I listen to his two stations almost exclusively. Content-wise they are heads and tails over anything else on Sirius or XM (which I have on one vehicle). The Assassin wrote: I'm sure it was in jest, but from what I have downloaded and from what friends of mine with sirius have said, paying to listen just for Stern just isnt worth it. .
Howards show is pretty much rrated, and better. if you don't like the show that day, many other options on Sirius.
Re: What Howard Stern really thinks of his fans.
I love that they replay the show all day on Howard 100. Not sure why it took them two months to figure that out.OCmike wrote:I had Sirius already, so I didn't switch for Stern. I love the guy, but it reminds me of when T. Gwynn once called out San Diegans for not coming to the ballpark. I love how millionaires call out Joe Citizen for not spending more of their hard-earned jack. If they want more listeners/fans let them subsidize the subscriptions/tickets with their jack. Or let them get a real job & learn the real value of a dollar. Otherwise SFTFU & stop biting the hands that have at least kept you well fed in the past.

Pssst....Stern's tongue couldn't have been any more firmly planted in his cheek when he said that. Doesn't the "How dare you?!" sound at least a little over the top to you?

Anyone that's ever listened to Stern can imagine his voice saying that, and would realize
it's his schtick. It's a gag...then cue the fart noises and moaning porn stars.

I prefer a little bit more out of morning radio than 3-4 hours of toilet humor punctuated by whining about his latest buisness dealings with his current/former bosses.
Daniel was supposed to get roasted and toasted, yet it was mody and the black comics who came out toasted. they were horrible. Earthquake?? christ that guy was bad. I agree it's tough to roast a guy like Daniel, there are only so many redneck jokes out there, but christ some of the comics were horrible!Martyred wrote:...and the Daniel Carver roast was pretty fucking funny.

The Wrap Up Show is funnier than I thought it would be.
Gary getting flustered at Sal's antics (wearing a monkey costume and throwing bananas at him) is both childish and magnificent at the same time.

Sometimes, the wrap up show is better than the actual show. ralph and baba booey almost coming to blows, getting guests who are walking down the hall, etcMartyred wrote:The Wrap Up Show is funnier than I thought it would be.

word at freeperville is that sirius is kinda regretting the deal. yeah, they got new subscribers, but it isn't anywhere near what was promised particularly with how much they have to pay Stern's overrated ass.Adelpiero wrote:get the fuck out of the thread cuntRisa wrote:whatever they're paying him, Howard Stern isn't worth it.
What does Sirius get out of this? has the pay off been as anticipated?
spam elsewhere
but that's just word over there. they could be wrong, and me by extension.
so I was asking.... what was Sirius expecting out of it,and is it anywhere close to what was projected to make them come out even/ahead in this Stern deal?
on a short leash, apparently.

I used to be a die hard Stern fan. But over the years he just seems to have gotten stale. The jokes arent as funny the bits are just tired and worn out. Hell he even uses the same sound bytes from 10 years ago! (ex Cronkites huuh what?) Arte Lange is annoying,Robins "haa-haa haa-haa yes Howard act got old years ago, and the worst part is Stern just doesn't seem all that interested in giving a top notch show. He got his fat payday and is coasting! At least thats how I see it.
I'm not saying Opie and Anthony are brilliant ( they are better but not by leaps and bounds) but at least they are trying to offer something fresh. Hell even they get dull after awhile, hearing about Anthonys new house is tiresome.
My favorite morning show is The Herd on XM 140. Colin Cowherd is the best sports talk show IMO.
Al Davis=Fidel Castro
They had less than 500,000 subscribers before signing Howard. They have over 4,000,000 now and he's only been on for three months.Risa wrote:whatever they're paying him, Howard Stern isn't worth it.

Sirius said that Stern pays for himself if subscriptions increased by 1,000,000. Even you can do that math.
Isn't the Opie & Anthony show an extra charge on top of the normal XM subscription? Who the hell pays extra for that crap? The Assassin wrote: I'm not saying Opie and Anthony are brilliant ( they are better but not by leaps and bounds) but at least they are trying to offer something fresh. Cowherd's show is on an AM station in just about every major market in the country. It's also on Sirius via one of the ESPN channels.
they were going to give Stern how much money over how many years if he only brought in 3 times as many subscribers as they had before the contract?Rack Fu wrote:They had less than 500,000 subscribers before signing Howard. just how much profit do they get from each subscriber?

Nope O&A isnt an extra fee. It used to be I think.
I know hes on AM stations, since I've had XM its VERY rare that I listen to fre radio anymore so now I refer to radio in XM terms.
ESPN is on Sirius too? Cool.

I walked over to the shipping dept. to complain about something, and they had on Howard. I lean over to complete a form for them and my ear is next to the radio as Robin is talking about feminine squirting.
I'm glad I don't have sirius because I would be too tempted to listen to it at work and get into trouble.
