Milli fucking Vanilli

Post by PSUFAN »

I get a chuckle as I recall how that shit went down.

When I first heard their music and saw a video of theirs, I was appalled. "This is the worst shit EVER" or something along those lines.

Of course, they became insanely popular. I don't know if it was kids or fags or what...but a lot of people bought their records and T-shirts, etc.

As an indignant teen and erstwhile iconoclast, I detested them utterly. I coughed and sputtered. I held forth. I forbade my younger sister from ever falling prey.

A lot of folks made a lot of money, etc. Milli and Vanilli took home a bunch of gear.

So then the bomb hit - they didn't actually SING THAT STUFF! Oh, the shame! Oh, the mothers, weeping in the malls, "My daughter is DEVASTATED! she wants her MONEY BACK! They BETRAYED US!!!!!"

How could this be? You mean to tell us...someone PACKAGED A PRODUCT, and got over on the Billboard chart? You mean...a bunch of people bought a piece of SHIT recording, and worshipped a couple of failed personal trainers only momentarily deterred them from glorious and productive drug careers?

You mean to tell me...garbage in, garbage out??? Can you fucking BELIEVE IT???

So, that's when I picked up a copy of their big hit album, and started asking to play it at parties. That's when I started listening to it. That's when it got good...to elicit grimacing masks of distemper from the badly fleeced, from the "Betrayed".

Then, didn't one of them, the french/gay/pensive one, I guess...didn't he off himself, at long last? I seem to recall they made the shit Oprah knock-off Show tour, made the simps feel bad about their deplorable fall from grace, and then gobbled a lot of pills and smoked a lot of crack and meth and ended up wormfeed.

Isn't that right about the time that Nelson got big?

"Musically, we are more talented than any Bob Dylan," announces Robert Pilatus, 24, with very little prodding. "Musically, we are more talented than Paul McCartney. Mick Jagger, his lines are not clear. He don't know how he should produce a sound. I'm the new modern rock 'n' roll. I'm the new Elvis."

You would think that if you knew you were lip synching all of your shit, you would not be dissing ANYBODY. But not "Rob and Fab".

Of course now when Ashlee Simpson get's caught red handed, nobody even gives a fuck.

Rob Pilatus wasn't French -- he was the son of an American GI and a German stripper. They both looked gay to me. As for the cause of death, I believe that it's officially considered an accidental drug overdose, although I could be wrong about that.

Remember the old series, Behind the Music, on VH1? I remember a local deejay saying, with respect to that show, "The worse the music, the better the story." Milli Vanilli, along with Motley Crue, Poison and Tony Orlando, proved that. And from the opposite perspective, Genesis and Heart proved it as well.

Yes...I accept that you revert to...well, not even homosmack, but "you're a fag". Mighty clever, TenBrainSparksBen.

As for "first hand knowledge" of CA and smoking bans there...I lived there when the ban was in its infancy. I was one of the smiling people sitting inside the bar watching you smokers standing outside the bar.

Nelson got big?

You do mean "grown up", right?

Can't remember them making much of an impact except as twins sons of a burnt corpse.

Unless of course you take into account the "20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of Nelson" CD.

That has to be awesome. Its a best of.
