It's the luck/unluck of the draw...I might try to think of some new way to do this next year. Maybe we should go back to no divisions but still keep the playoff format. Let's say, take the top 8 overall or maybe give the top two players a bye or something. I'll figure something out. We don't have the same number of participants like we used to so I think I'll have to adjust the game accordingly. The division thing works a lot better when more people are playing.

The first tiebreaker would which player played in the fewest weeks to earn their score for the season. Next would be pick percentage...let's say both players played in the same number of weeks but each took a different week off and that may result in a different number of total games. The third would be a cumulative head-to-head...I'd take each players' score from each week and figure out which player won the most weeks out of the two. If it came to a fourth, I might as well just let them participate in the playoffs if the two players have such identical scores for the regular season. I'd feel bad to leave one of them out if we went through a handful of tiebreaking procedures. I'll leave it as just those four...beyond that, both players make the playoffs.
As far as ties in seeding, that really doesn't matter because the first round will be a group thing...whether you're the #1 wild card or the #4 wild card, you don't get any advantage. The 4 wild cards in each conference will compete against each other in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. The best player from each conference advance to take on the two division winners who had first round byes. The second round will be just the conference quarterfinals in the NHL playoffs. The top player from each conference advance to the finals. The SNC finals will cover the conference finals and the Stanley Cup Finals.
The playoff format will be very similar to before. For the first three rounds of the Stanley Cup playoffs, you'll pick the winner of each series, the length of the series and then rank your picks...the confidence picks are the tiebreaker for the playoff round. For the Stanley Cup Finals, you'll predict the score of each game and something new for this year, each game you pick a player from each team and you'll receive points based on if they score a goal or get an assist...sort of a fantasy hockey thing. You pick a different player for each game. You guys should be familiar with how I do this...not much has changed since we last played two years ago.
