NBA TV Presents First-Ever Dual Skycam Telecast
NEW YORK, April 5, 2006 – NBA TV, the league’s 24-hour television network, will take a unique look at the NBA when it televises the first-ever game to utilize two high-definition Skycams when the Seattle Sonics meet the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m. ET. While a traditional basketball telecast uses two center court cameras, NBA TV will provide a new perspective of the game through the sky cameras, which will offer a crisp, close-up view of the action, akin to what would be a seat 10 rows up in the lower bowl of the arena. Rick Kamla will host this original NBA TV telecast from San Antonio’s AT&T Center, which will be televised nationally in high-definition television...
...The audio for the HD broadcast will once again be in 5.1 Surround with enhanced features to capture the sounds of the game from the squeaking of sneakers to the shouting out of plays by coaches and players. NBA TV will deploy new technologies such as an adaptive array and advanced piezoelectric microphones in an effort to expand upon the February 26th “Silent Game” between the Rockets and Magic, providing a more realistic sound environment to what a fan in the seats would be accustomed to hearing.

Absolutely fantastic. NO freakin' announcers to yack all the way through the game like the cheesebags they are. It was like being at the game for real.
And yes, we recorded the entire game. :D
Spurs / Sonics part of high-def history
