Which Game Last Year Would You Like to Have Back?
Ok so we have gone down numerous paths of 2006 outlooks and what not but thinking back to last year what is one game you would like to have back to play all over again?
For me it would be tOSU vs PSU...I am sure some buckeye fans would say the Texas game but hey that was a great game both teams played solid football and it was what it was supposed to be a titanic clash between to storied programs that was very close...
The reason why I want the PSU game back is basically after the game tOSU circled the wagons and went on a terror...granted PSU played great football that night and last year but I ask was PSU really that much better than tOSU? Not really...I am not ruffling feathers but here are some interesting facts:
Troy Smith throws a pick that is returned to the OSU 6 and PSU damn near didn't punch it in on 3rd down to go up 14-0 I believe at that point.
After PSU's opening 2nd half drive tOSU defense held them without a first down the rest of the game...
that second stat speaks volumes for what that game was an old fashioned Big 10 slobberknocker that came down to one or two plays and it just so happened PSU made the plays when it mattered.
now getting that game back does OSU no good for getting back into the MNC hunt but had they won they would have gone undefeated in the Big 10 and been outright champions...
I also look at how tOSU played at the end of the year and ask would Texas or PSU wanted to play tOSU given the way they played at the end of the year and against ND??? Just questions for discussions no flaming or hand grenades being tossed...
It sure is slow up in this bitch!
Thoughts? Discuss?

Good topic.
Easy choice for me. I would love to have the game against UConn back. If we would have won, then we would have played WVU for the Big East Championship at home.
As poorly as we played in that game (5 turnovers), we still had the chance to win late in the game. We had the ball on UConn's 1 yard line with about 5 minutes left in the game and didn't score. A boneheaded call by our OC on 3rd and goal cost us 5 yards die to a false start. Instead of taking our time and punching the ball in, the offense sprinted from the huddle for a quick snap.

The MSU game.
There were so many things that went wrong, yet ND still pushed that game into overtime. Had any of the following changed:
-Quinn's ill advised pass to open the second half returned for a TD
-Ndukwe's INT returned for a TD instead of him running out of gas
-Schwaap's fumble by the goal line
-Quinn getting the wrong play and handing to Schwaap on 4th and inches instead of pitching to Walker
-Stovall called for holding on Walker's long TD run
ND would have gone into the USC game undefeated.
I guess if I had one other to take back, it would have been Schwaap not droping the third down pass in the flat or ND not scoring so quickily against USC.

Damn. This is tough. I'm going to have to cheat and pick more than one game.
First game of the year against Clemson. A&M is behind and comes back with a 30 yard TD pass to Schroeder. A&M goes up 23-22. 9 minutes to go and Jad Dean for Clemson has already made 5 field goals on the day. Fran kicks the XP so we are up 24-22. We trade posessions and punts and then Clemson marches down the field and kicks their 6th FG with time running out.
Next is Texas State. Scrimmage, right? WRONG! We win 44-31, but they moved the ball on us like we were a 6-man defense. That game against a shit team is why I think Torbush lost his job. Our starters should have been on the bench halfway through the 3rd.
Then we have Baylor. Yeah, we didn't lose THIS YEAR, but you should never have to go to OT to beat Baylor. Same as Texas State...starters should have been benched WAY earlier.
Iowa State 42. A&M 14. Nuff said.![Embarassed ](./images/smilies/icon_redface.gif)
Texas Tech 56. A&M 17. Nuff said. :brad: x infinity
The OU game I thought we'd win. We just could not get that last stop. OU Fan WAS scared in that game.
And then the annual loss to t.u. It's become more of a  than a :brad:.
So...if you're going to be a dickhead and make me pick just ONE of these, I'd have to say the Taco Tech game in Lubbock. I really wanted to win that game after the goal post incident from a couple years before. Instead, we stuck our heads in the sand.

_sc,
I gotta go with the Texas game, especially since I flew across the country to attend. Walking to the stadium, I just had that feeling that it wasn't gonna be our day.
The missed tackle for a safety, Hamby's double drop, Huston's near FG miss at the end. It was just meant to be, I guess. Still a memorable game, and definitely one of the best times I've had in Columbus (even got to raise a couple beers with 88]. Texas fans were awesome too. Still hoping I can make it to Austin this year.
I'm curious to see what Shoalzie & BlindRef have to contribute to this thread.![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Lance I thought I could make it to Austin but I am just going to head up to C-Bus for the Michigan game...no tickets but I want to be part of that deal...
lemme know if you might be heading up for the Michigan game...I know it is MUCH colder than what you are used to at that time of the year!
What would Jon and Babs have to say???![Embarassed ](./images/smilies/icon_redface.gif)

It is a toss up between the Miami and FSU games, considering they were the same fucking game.
VT's Oline could not handle any pressure from either D, the Hokie D decided to allow scrub QBs to light up the field, and Vick didn't get hurt in either game after taking a beating.
If I was forced to choose, I would have to go with Miami because I dislike that team more.

I'd love it if I could. Not sure yet about my fall travel plans, I try to get back for one game a season. Gotta wait & see which game the ticket office will grant me this year. Since I got Texas last year, I imagine I'm in line for Northern Illinois or Indiana this year. I'd prefer an October or November game-- I miss those cold autumn football Saturdays. Might just veto it and fly out for The Game.buckeye_in_sc wrote:Lance I thought I could make it to Austin but I am just going to head up to C-Bus for the Michigan game...no tickets but I want to be part of that deal...

I dunno but if there are two moments I'm glad are etched into history forever, they are:What would Jon and Babs have to say???
1. Drew Tate spiking the ball after the OSU defense ruptured his uterus
2. John L Smith's halftime tirade after at least one of his assistant coaches allegedly fucked everything up for the rest of the team

I want the ND game back. Henne played like a deer in headlights, made critical mistakes, and we still could have won. If we win that one the tone of the season is completely different.

Michigan State. We dug ourselves too deep a hole in that one. Yeah, we were able to come back and force overtime, but we absolutely SUCK in overtime (without looking it up, I believe we have an all-time 2-7 record in overtime games). If we win that game, we finish the regular season at #3 or, at worst, #4, and there's no controversy about whether we deserved a BCS bid.
Runner-up is USC, and, if you'll allow me a slight indulgence here, I'll take tOSU-Texas to go along with ND-USC. I'm not a tOSU fan, but if those two games go the other way (and both of them quite easily could have), you have the ultimate chaotic situation in college football -- no undefeated teams, and seven one-loss teams, at least six of whom could have laid at least arguable claim to the right to play for the national championship. That might have been the end of the BCS, had it gone down like that.
