Adios, Ricky Manning Jr.

Post by Dumbass »

Well, looks like Chicago will be taking him. I would not expect The Panthers with their history to continue their relationship after this news. Steve Smith is the only one I have heard of that got a second chance and it was a team mate assault and well...it's Steve Smith.

And now for the rest of the story...
Former UCLA cornerback Ricky Manning Jr. was arrested early Sunday and charged with assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly knocking a man unconscious at a Westwood diner.

Manning, a three-year NFL veteran who Friday had signed a five-year, $21 million offer sheet with the Chicago Bears, walked in to Denny's Restaurant just after 3 a.m. with four or five friends and began to tease a man working on a laptop at a nearby table, according to Los Angeles Police Department Det. Robert Lewis.

The man asked a Denny's employee to intervene, then Manning punched the man in the face and others in the group began to kick and beat him, Lewis said. The group then fled as an employee phoned police.

Manning was pulled over several blocks away because the Range Rover he was driving fit the description of the car witnesses had given police. Manning was arrested after the victim, who had regained consciousness, identified him, Lewis said.

The detective said police are still looking for independent witnesses to confirm the victim's account. A call to Manning's agent, Jim Ivler, was not returned, but the Chicago Sun-Times reported that Manning told his agent he had no involvement in the incident.

It is the second time Manning has been arrested after a fight in Westwood. In 2002, he was arrested and charged with assault after a fight outside Madison's.

This arrest is not expected to have any impact on the offer sheet Manning signed.

The Carolina Panthers, for whom Manning helped to the Super Bowl as a rookie in 2003 when he intercepted four passes in the playoffs, have until Friday to match the offer made by the Bears.

I hope that guy takes every last dime of Manning's signing bonus.

The victim was probably reading "the one board" which, of course, upset the surrounding patrons...

Wow, I think the follow up took 3-4 hours, maybe.

It's official but it had "nothing to do with this".

The timing is ironic. Here's an even more damming account...
According to [LAPD officers], Manning was in a group that attacked a man in a Denny’s restaurant after teasing him for working on a laptop computer.

“The group began by making comments that the victim looked like a geek or a nerd,” Lewis said.

The victim asked the group to stop and then complained to a Denny’s manager before someone in the group punched him in the face. He then was punched and kicked by multiple attackers until losing consciousness, Lewis said.

That's probably the most physical Manning has been since he man-handled Pinkston in the playoffs a few years ago as a rookie.

Look hoss, being PC has got nothing to do with it.....

I argued for your right to continue to post moronic insults and racial slurs, but the majority ruled against me.......that's the way it's always been in here......

but take comfort in the fact that you can still be an idiot in the main forum......

Look, I'm going to let this stand because it's apparent that you using racial slurs is VERY VERY VERY important in bolstering whatever argument/point you may be trying to make.....

the point here is that everybody that posts in this forum (except you) is willing to respect that particular boundary........it's has nothing to do with being PC and everything to do with that's the way we (the regular members of the football forum) want it....

if you don't like it and don't want to abide by that, then don't post in this forum.....it's really that simple......

Okay... I'm always pushing the envelope in this forum. And I'm actually a pretty big fan of yours. But your stance here... just plain stupid. "No N-bombs, you say? Fuck you... N, N, N, N, N, N, N, N, N, N-Bomb."

You sound like a 3 year old...

That might have been fresh when Lenny Bruce did it. Now it's just tiresome.
