Omaha World Herald reporting...

Post by Cornhusker »

OU recruit Chad Roark to transfer to NU to play with his brother, redshirt freshman Craig.

His dad was quoted as saying he "was shocked" that he'd be willing to lose a year eligibility to transfer in conference.

OU fan, did he run with the first teamers in spring ball due to ability or injury to the center position?

Any word on why? Hard to believe it would be to hang with big brother as the only reason.

Stoops apparently going to grant the release.

Heard he couldn't hack Schmitty's weight training program. Don't know if he played with the 1s because of ability or not but we aren't deep at C that's for sure. If he didn't have the ability to make it through one spring of the weight training program I am glad he isn't taking up a scholarship, especially the way we are over signed and more qualifying than expected.

Okay memory jogged. :D
There's been rumblings of this for the last couple of weeks, but the basketball meltdown is a little preoccupying right now.
Tell you what we should just split days on it cause that's my story as well. We need a PG. Sorry I love Scotty but we need a PG. We need to offer Uzoh and tell both of 'em which ever one commits first is who comes to OU... I think I'll head to the bball board after this.
Story is that he missed class and Schmidt made him run at 5am. Chad got pissy and skipped the last three practices.

Sounds about right. I knew it was Schmidty and something about an argument and training. Didn't know it was punishment.

OWH also mentioned he's 4.0.
You'd think a S&C coach could give damn if a 4.0 student took a morning off from class.

Never heard what BS does to players who don't go to study hall atleast once a week?

I can't post the link because I'm not a registered member of the OWH. (Good for me)
Who knows what a hack may pull out of his ass.

This am the same reporter is saying Stoops HAS granted the release and Roark was quoted as saying, "I'm really not supposed to discuss it, Coach Stoops doesn't want me to discuss why I'm leaving. I don't want to say anything bad about the University of Oklahoma."
"I just wasn't happy there and it wasn't the place for me."

Yesterday his dad posted on Huskers Illustrated he wanted Chad to wait till the end of the semester and think over what he should do. He mentioned he probably should have waited out his enrollment till the fall.

So who knows?

Rumor also is that his brother thinks he should stay in Norman. Apparantly the Roark you have wants to be at OU and the one we have wants to be at NU. Maybe we should just make a trade.

HOw many linemen has OU run off? 10, 12, I've lost count.

You know after a while it stops being the kids fault.

It's no secret what the problem is. Coach Wilson is a jasckass and Schmitty runs the toughest weight training program in the country. There is a reason that almost as many NFL players are in Norman at this time of year as current OU football players. I'll take the losses because the ones that stick around go to the NFL and get drafted first three rounds because of the same people that run kids off.

Maddog has won S&C COY twice and his list of NFL players he has coached is both long and distinguished. He has not had an issue with running people off.

Motivation does not require being a dick.

well I do have wireless internet in my house and tend to surf while watching TV.

So if that equals art and literature then I'm guilty. :D

I'm sorry, but aren't S&C coaches supposed to be pricks? Supposedly Mendoza laughed at ND's S&C program and basically called each player a pussy for not being able to do simple conditioning excercises and for being behind just about every other D1 school when it came to overall strength.

There was some attrition in the Junior OLine class (3 kids left), but that is to be expected when a new staff comes in. A shame that they actually made these kids work in the weight room.

BTH do you really believe that Peterson wants to come back for his senior year? This is the same kid who wanted to jump directly to the NFL from high school.

I would be the most shocked person in America if he doesn't declair after next season.

My take on AD coming back.(Not that its important or means anything)

I think the kid is a stud. Seems like a good person and just gives it all he has every Saturday. He is great combination of size 6'2" 225 and speed 4.4.

I think what will happen this year is that he will get his yards on avg 150-160 a game but will miss a game w/ an injury (shoulder) and limted in another. He will dominate in their bowl game. The rumors will fly about him going in the Top 10 if he is healthy and weighing his options, he will choose to declare. He will blow up at the Combine and be a Top 3 pick.

He has been getting advised by a number of current NFL players who train in Schmitty's of season program to stay and finish his degree. There are almost as many professional players in Norman as players for OU in the Spring and early summer.
