more fuel for best conference debate

Post by Nolesy »

In reviewing the draft I noticed that the ACC sent alot of players to the NFL.
I was wondering if one of you fellows who has a job making 60+k a year for posting here all day could run some numbers comparing number of draft choices per conference. Also qualify an weight value to round of pick.
Shazz? oops for got 1 sticker dude does'nt make over minimum wage. Any one else?
Fuck the ACLU. It will always be Merry Christmas to me.

A draft comparison of the 5 Major conferences

Conf Draftees Avg/Team
ACC 49 4.1
B10 41 3.7
P10 32 3.2
SEC 37 3.1
B12 28 2.3

Conf Most Draftees Avg w/o
ACC FSU 8 3.7
B10 OSU 9 3.2
SEC GA 7 2.7
P10 USC 11 2.3
B12 OK/Tex 6 2

I'm having formating issues, but the 1st table is just a straight comparison of the conferences based on # of players drafted and average number of players drafted per team.

The 2nd table removes the team from each conference that had the highest number of players drafted, in case it skews the results. It does drop us below sec...

In both cases, the ACC had the most players drafted on a per team average, and the B12 had the least. B12 was dominated by Ok/Tex, with 12 of their 28 players from these 2 schools.

SC dominated the p10, with more than 1/3 of the draftees from sc.

Being a P10 homer, I was surprised at the gap between the p10 and the ACC/B11, about a player per team once the top team is removed.

Pretty much what I expected. I know the ACC set the record for most 1st Round picks from one conference.

^^^^more like 85...remember Ferentz only recruits NFL caliber players...and first rounders to boot...

you know tOSU had 5 first rounders (one short of tieing the U) which is exceptional obviously...just think 3 of the ACC's first rounders came from a shitty NCSU squad...wow...

I stand corrected you would be correct the D was far from shitty but notice that's about all that was drafted and a couple offensive guys declared or some shit...

still 6-5 is 6-5 or whatever their record was...don't get me wrong I think Mario Williams is a PLAYER...but the other DT that buffalo took was a reach if you ask me and I watched a lot of NCSU over the last few years...

my bad on the comment I should have exonerated the D while lambasting their Offense...

Conference debate fuel will be determined not by how many were drafted, but by how many remain in the league.....

I'm more interested in how many guys make opening day rosters.

The big 12 was very yong last year most of Texas's starters are returning as is with a lot of teams. I expect Texas to have a much bigger impact in the draft, especially if we lose a few underclassmen.

True that. FSU had too many leave early.

The noles will definately miss Sims and Cromartie

Actually, considering that OU was supposedly the third or fourth best team in the Big 12 last year, going 8-4 and beating the soon to be Pac 10 champ in the Holiday Bowl is a pretty respectable showing from a conference superiority standpoint.
