Like many of you have said, he was on the decline for the past ten years or so, but I think that Texas/SC game was when he really knew he had to get out. It seemed as though EVERY SINGLE time he opened his mouth, something horrifically stupid or awkward came out.

At one point, I remember he said this after Texas attempted a two point conversion: "It's odd that no time ran from the game clock".

He was having trouble with sentences more than 5 words long. It was very ugly.

Yep, I'm sure your personal accomplishments are so meaningful , that you can judge a living legend. I can see how you might not revel in the rich history of CFB, seeing as your noles have been relevent for but a couple short decades. I've said all along that for me it's about respect. Dude brought alot to the game and should be respected as he steps aside, even if you think he hung on too long. I'm not related to him and have no mancrush or whatever. I liked his style, there aren't many of the old timers around anymore. With one more gone it only opens the door for some ex-jock when a pro broadcaster would do a far better job.

Y'all are welcome to your opinions, I would like the same courtesy.

There are others in this thread who claimed they like and remain fans of Jackson. However, they did not call all of us out who don't like him.

As I said before, he's done some great things. I applaud those. I'd give him a golf clap as he left the stage. I just think he's washed up and up until he became the Pac 10 Ballsucking Homer, I was really indifferent about the guy.

Its interesting who likes and dislikes Keith Jackson.

I was suprised to see Killain take the stance he did. From what I've seen, all the Michigan posters like him, which just proves once again that Michigan has the most knowledgeable fans around.

Keith Jackson is a legend, and even if he wasn't perfect, I'll take him over the straight out of broadcasting school screamers that populate the airwaves now. I would take a drunk Keith Jackson over Pam Oliver or whatever that annoying bitches name is any day.

One of my favorite parts of the 1997 Rose Bowl was that Keith Jackson did that game. I have always enjoyed the subtletly that he brings to the table.

In general I prefer to watch a game with no sound, but If I have to, I'll take Keith Jackson any day.

He was/is no fan of ND, and you could hear the tone in his voice change depending on how Notre Dame was playing. Never liked that. Not just because he didn't like ND, but because his bias was so easily spotted.

The funny thing about NBC is that people who don't like ND hate the coverage because they think that they are biased for ND. ND fans hate the coverage because they think they are biased against ND.

I don't pay attention to a thing they say. I typically get pissed off because they fuck up something about the team or players.

I would listen to the radio broadcast and watch the game, but there is a 5 second delay. Thanks Janet.

When Keith Jackson was created, they threw the mold away. Imitations abound, but there is only one Keith Jackson.

Highly respected and admired by his colleagues in both the broadcast and sports press, Keith Jackson is a product of his roots and early experiences. Born in Georgia, Keith grew up picking cotton and plowing fields, and studying by kerosene lamp. Determined and focused on his goals, Keith entered Washington State University on the G.I. Bill of Rights. From KOMO-TV, Seattle, where he found a job upon graduation doing the evening news and doubling as a sportscaster, Keith Jackson went on to become one of the greats in the field.
