Your 'State List'
Yes, consider this a 'newbie' post. Still would like to get a consensus of your state list.
Rather than spend the $$$ that I don't have to play the top 100, I settle for playing in each of the 50 states. Not close yet, but a good start.
Pennsylvania
Maine- Rack golf in the summer in Maine
Massachusetts- Customer took me to his CC. So, I didn't really have much fun.
New York
Ohio- some great courses. Very underrated golf state.
Virginia- Played a Fred Couples course, Westfields. Quite nice.
South Carolina- Verdae Greens. The pro is a complete dickhead.
Florida- Always try to fit a round in at World Woods when I'm down there. One of the best courses in the country.
Mississippi
Nebraska
Illinois
Michigan
West Virginia
California- Favorite state to play golf in.
Washington
Oregon- awesome golf in Portland area.
Colorado
Georgia- Watch the Seniors this weekend. Played that course, Savannah Harbor.
Will be adding Arizona later on.

Almost PM'ed you last time I was headin' down there.
As an aside, last time I played there (November or something like that), was paired up with a playing editor from Golf Digest. He was there to rate the course. I said, just give it 10 all around, eh?
We stuck together and decided to play another 18, this time on Rolling Oaks. He liked Rolling Oaks better than Pine Barrens, to which I concur. Which actually is odd given that Pine Barrens is ranked above Rolling Oaks in the top 100.

If you aren't already, get on their email list. They have some great specials sometimes, mucho. Of course, being up here in the 'burgh, I can't capitalize on many of them, but I try to schedule biz trips around 'em when I can.
When I was there last, I used an email coupon and played Pine Barrens for $40 I think, including cart. Got the golf digest editor the same rate w/it, which in turn got me a couple beers.
Just got an email from them today... looks like this weekend, they are having a SERIOUS demo day. The body of their email w/the below image in the background...

Few weeks ago, we met the owner of Couer d'Alene. He came in w/his wife and son to see what our company had to offer. Said any time we wanted to play there, to give 'im a call. By the time I'm ever in the area to have the opportunity to play there, I'm sure he'll say, "Annnnnd who the fuck are you again? Hon, can you get me the number for security, please?"Felix wrote:Idaho-home state love the courses in the Couer d'Alene area

I'm assuming that would be Duane Hagadone? Treat him nice, because that fucker has more money than he know what to do with (second richest Idahoan).......Ken wrote: Few weeks ago, we met the owner of Couer d'Alene.
I've had to deal with the Hagadone Corportation a number of times and what I'd tell you about them is that nobody, and I mean NOBODY gets over on them........if your company is in a business deal with them, be sure and dot all your i's and cross all your t's........
the Couer d'Alene resort is nice, but the newest course in that area is located next to the Indian Casino in Worley (about 30 miles from CDA). It's called Circling Raven......
http://www.golfcirclingraven.net/
all things considered (price and quality) I think Circling Raven is far superior to the resort course.....but hey, if you can somehow wrangle an invite from the owner of the CDA resort, I sure wouldn't pass it by........

Yes, that would be him. Came into Santa Barbara in a helicopter with his wife and son. We don't have to worry about doing biz directly with him, shold everything come to fruition. Too hard to expalin and I won't get into it. Long story short, we would have nothing to do with dotting i's and crossing t's.Felix wrote:I'm assuming that would be Duane Hagadone? My out of state golfing experience is rather limited. I've played...
New York
Vermont
Maryland
Florida
My favorite out of state course is Ralph Myhre in Middlebury, Vermont. Views like this from the 4th tee box say all that needs to be said.

I've talked to him in a group setting a couple of times and seemed like a pretty good guy..... the company itself is kind of ruthless, but that's business and that's why he's successful......Ken wrote: Yes, that would be him. Came into Santa Barbara in a helicopter with his wife and son.
the resort is very very nice.....real first class operation.....

I've played golf in all of two different states.
You guys will never guess which two.
But...I may be spending some time in Spokane this summer. I'll see if I can check out CDA, or any recommendations anyone may have in that area (I'm pretty sure CDA is "right next to" Spokane, right?)

I like Rolling Oaks a little better as well. Haven't been up that way on a while, so it might be a good excuse to go play.Ken wrote:We stuck together and decided to play another 18, this time on Rolling Oaks. Not much of a list, but then I've always lived close to a lot of nice tracks.
There are some around here that would question that.....
“It is usually futile to try to talk facts and analysis to people who are enjoying a sense of moral superiority in their ignorance.”
Sidewinder or Dinosaur? Me & a few buddies played the Dinosaur a couple weeks ago. Absolutely fantastic course. The driving range was the only disappointment. The beverage bitches were certainly not.JaysFan wrote:Arizona (Gold Canyon)

I played there back a number of years ago now and Dinasour had just been built but they hadn't opened it yet.L45B wrote:Sidewinder or Dinosaur? So in answer to your question, Sidewinder (the original 18).
The holes that run along 60 in between the villas weren't all that inspiring but the few that ran up to the north and west of the clubhouse provided some fantastic views and a look at what Dinasour would look like.

I believe that there's some sort of law enacted and enforced by the ATF that requires all Marshal Bev's to be hot.
The munis around here have some serious talent. Bad enough I've gotta pay $3 for a brew, but then I feel compelled to tip her at least $2 -- both the ensure a quick return, and because I'm a dog like the rest of you, and ...you know how we (men) are -- somewhere in the back of my warped mind, I somehow think that by ponying up a whole $2, that somehow increases my chances of seeing her underwear.
Although...stopped by the clubhouse at my buddy's country club last night to catch the basketball game (he lives a stone's throw from the clubhouse). It's at the club where I act like the Big Man On Campus, and with all of the new employees around they haven't figured out that I'm not a member, which has resulted in some free golf at a pretty deece course...RACK my dishonesty...wait, that doesn't sound very good. In my defense, I spend money there -- just not on membership dues. But anyhoo, they got a new bartender chick...
verrrrry nice. And since I'm a fucking pig, I naturally ran some game...hold your breath waiting for this one to work out. But hey...it's that whole "law of averages" thing -- run it on enough hotties, and you'll find a sucker sooner or later(generally later). And for some reason (I'm guessing it has to do with being a fucking pig), I get a double-secret-extra-woody for chicks who work at golf courses...maybe because they can both service my needs, AND score me some free golf.
Maybe I need therapy?
