Figures the Dives would choke this series. They aren't the 1944-45 Leafs nor are they the 1974-75 Isles.

They definitely aren't the same team since Roy retired. Theodore has been okay for the Avs in the playoffs but they just aren't nearly as intimidating as they once were. I was hoping so much for the Wings to get by Edmonton because they matched up very favorably with Colorado...they beat them all 4 meetings in the regular season.

Sure, it's hindsight, but I'm not surprised this has happened to the Avs. I knew they were weak going into the playoffs (7th seed after all....and when's the last time Colorado's been a 7 seed? Que.....) and they ran into a team ripe for an upset, featuring a meltdown waiting to happen in net. Now it's the Avs turn. Their problems start in the goal. Gimme' Aebischer over Theodore any day. But no more Foote, Forsberg, Deadmarsh, etc. Sakic, Liles, Tanguay, Hedjuk, etc. are still damn good but this team just isn't the same.

I agee with most of what you say except for Aebischer over Theodore. You can't critize the goaltending when you don's score.
Game 1: 0 goals
Game 2: 0 goals
Game 3: 3 goals

But he's giving up 4 goals a game though...even if the Avs are scoring goals, Theodore isn't exactly helping matters. It be one thing if they're losing 2-0 or 1-0 games. Those first two games in Anaheim were blowouts.

Like I said, the Avs' problems start in goal. True, can't do much about it when you get shut out. But in watching Theodore vs. the Stars, he was incredibly average......the only goalie more average being just across the ice from him......and knew Colorado was in trouble. Why in the world did they ever get rid of Chris Drury?

Because Derek Morris was supposed to be an up-and-coming Norris Trophy candidate. So much for that.

Lacroix has been hit and miss with some his gambles. The Blake-Reinprecht for Deadmarsh-Miller trade turned out well for him. Obviously, the Morris for Drury and Reinprecht deal was a flop. The jury is out on the Theodore-Aebisher swap. Letting Forsberg and Foote walk was risky but they were pretty much forced into doing becaue of the cap. Keeping Foote was something they should've pursued further. Anaheim went through that defense like a hot knife through butter. Blake has never been shutdown guy like a Scott Stevens, Chris Pronger or Derian Hatcher. Skrastins is a warrior...I'd take him on my team anyday. Liles is solid puck-moving defenseman and Clark is turning into a solid NHL player as well. The Laperriere signing was a brilliant move...he's one of the best role players in the NHL and had a great season. They need to get a little bigger up front and add another stopper on defense to replace the absence of Foote.

So much for talking about Lacroix...

http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=165671&hubname=

In all fairness, the guy had a great run in Denver. 3 cups, a long streak of division championships, great drafts, made key trades to put the Avs over the top (Roy, Blake, Bourque)...those are going to be some large shoes to fill.

Great point. All trades don't work......but Lacroix has made out in a lot of them. It's easy to bang on him in hindsight (Drury) but let's see here.....Chris Drury or 3 Cups???? Hmmmmm.........I'll take the......
