Outdoors in Minnesota?

Post by M2 »

I bet the other Big 10 teams can't wait to play on a frozen field.
I like the idea, but man it's going to be fuckin' cold!

I don't know man, it gets pretty cold everywhere in the Big Ten.

I don't think Minneapolis is going to be that noticably different than the rest of the conference.

The Average Temp for Minneapolis
October: 48.7
November: 33.1

The Average Temp for Madison, Wi
October: 50.0
November: 35.2

The Average Temp for East Lansing, MI
October: 49.3
November: 37.9

The Average Temp for Ann Arbor, MI
October: 52.8
November: 40.8

The Average Temp for Evanston, IL
October: 52.7
November: 39.9
Those who stay will be champions.

Domed football is the anomaly in Minny. It has coincided with their mediocrity.

I've lived in Minnesota for 3 years now and I can honestly say the cold weather is overrated.

Before coming here I had no desire to live in a state like Minnesota because of the cold. I can honestly say that the cold isn't that bad. Don't get me wrong it can get really really cold but those days only last a couple days the rest is pretty mild.

BTW I'm moving in the summer, my wife got a promotion that is taking us to yet another state.

Utah of all places.

Gopher Stadium Update

From the land of 10K lakes. The house/senate have finally approved the new stadium.

I love model designs

Seriously, looks like a great facility!

Capacity is 50K, but can expand to 80 (not sure how that would work).

looks alot like the original Owen Field. the surrounding campus architecture looks very "cold war" era.

indoor football is a crime against nature.

I was thinking the same thing about the Stadium.

Sweet looking stadium.

Whenever we decide to build an on campus stadium I hope it will look a bit like Minnesota's stadium.

That is a cool looking yard. It's got that traditional college football/Lambeau Field look...all the seats in a bowl, no upper decks.

That should really help their program. Although it probably won't have the aura of a Camp Randall, playing outside & on campus will be tougher for Big Ten opponents than the usual gimme in the dome.

Yep. If they build that, it will be much better than that shitty HHH Dome. Although - they should build a facility that they can share with the Vikes, IMHO. As much as I love Beaver Stadium, I sorta shake my head when I realize that it's in use 6-7 times a fucking year...
