Bonds... should have asterick *

Post by M2 »

It should state...

He would have had 800 home runs... if he wasn't walked 700 times intentionally!!!

The next closest... is Hank, at less than 300(292).

If you think players since time began... haven't used drugs in all aspects of life.

You're just a plain retar..... ahhh KC Paul.

They were downing Cocaine since the start of the 20th Century!!!

Hell, your grandma... was pounding Coke! In her soda alone.

Bonds is the best evar!!!

With Hank and Willie Mays being very close # 2's

Like a hurt, lost and blinded fool...fool

... oh no I've said too much... I haven't said enough.

Now I've said too much.

How many of those drugs helped them hit more homeruns? Did any of them help Aaron or any other player put on about 30 pounds of pure muscle?

You know what, Ruth should have an astrick too. One that states he would have over 1,000 homeruns if he had as many at-bats as Aaron.

Bonds isn't even close to the greatest player, or hitter, of all time.

Just like everything else that comes out of the bay, overrated and over hyped.

By the way, if Bonds wasn't such an asshole, people might be a little willing to forgive him for juicin his head to the size of Pluto (although it isn't certain). It's not just that he's a roidhead, but it's his whole attitude he's carried with him his enture career. The combination of the two makes it easy for guys who catch his 714th and 715th to openly state their disdain for him, and do whatever they can to fuck with him like he's fucked with the fans, media and teammates alike for his entire career.

Babe Ruth 1 HR every 11 AB's or so. Bonds 1 HR every 13 AB's. I'll take the Babe. Bonds has had 843 more AB's than Babe. Give Babe those AB's and he's got 70 more HR's. Take away the years that he pitched and he's got a lot more HR's and we're not having this conversation. Babe Ruth played in an era with bigger ball parks and a non juiced ball. Bonds plays in a little league field with a juiced ball, not to mention he's got more juice in his body than Minutemaid.
Ruth career pitching state: 96-46 with 2 years of 20+ wins and 1 of 18. Career ERA 2.28 with almost 500K's. I'll take the Babe over Bond$ and his roided out, piss poor mentality and asshole attitude anyday. Babe was a better player. Anyone that roots for this jerk is an ass themselves, and you represent everything that's wrong with sports.

I don't think it's possible to make a comparison between Ruth and Bonds, looking at just stats across the board. You make some good points, Lax, but you also have to understand the level of talent in the bigs back then versus now. Pitchers are better athletes, thus better pitchers (don't think Bartolo Colon when you read this, please) these days. Ruth's pitching stats are truly noteworthy, if not remarkable, but how would he fare going up against a lineup of Pujols, ManRam, Big Papi, etc? We can't say for sure, but if I had to venture a guess, I'd say his numbers wouldn't be as impressive.

We don't need to compare Ruth to Bonds or Aaron to Bonds to justify ours and most everyone else's "fuck Barry" attitude. All we need look at is how he has conducted himself on and off the field and we have all the evidence we need to have an informed opinion.

Roof...Yes I agree about the era's and stuff but look at Ruth and let's say we put him in today's game with all the advances in training, weight lifting, conditioning, nutrition etc....I'm sure he'd pretty much do the same thing. Now put Bond$ back in those days without all the stuff he has now and what happens? First thing that would happen would be that he gets knocked in the head a few times for being an arrogant ass. He wouldn't have all the advantages he has right now. He'd be an above average player.

I'd have to disagree with the first part of that. The only weights that Ruth lifted were the 12oz beers he chugged on a regular basis. I think you can make that argument for alot of guys back in that era, but Ruth just didn't scream "work ethic" to me.

But I get what you're saying

There are plenty of "what if's" to go around.

If Mays' home field had been Milwaukee / Atl or had a short fence like Ruth did, instead of playing half his games at the Polo Grounds and Candlestone, and hadn't taken a couple of years off in his prime to serve in Korea, he would have had 800 HRs easy.

But he didn't.

Solid ^^^

I don't even get caught up in it. Didn't even get caught up much in Mac and Sosa and was actually so sick of them that I was glad to see Barry bust it and of course it had to be on The Dodgers. I can't stand the fucker and always heckle him at the ball park, "You Suck" or "Sherry" is always coming out of my mouth but it's because of what he has done and the beast at the plate he is.

The reason I don't get caught up in the roids issue much is because I really don't care. The same way I don't care that Corky Sosa got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Who else could be caught? Who else survived their whole career not getting caught? Who cares? We give more leniancy to DUI manslaughterers (yea my own word prolly, whatever), wife beaters and dead beat dads if they don't "cheat". I mean do we also get to the point of breaking down pitchers and who used sand paper and vaseline? Who took a cortisone shot to alleviate the pain (Gibson)? Obviously Bonds is not the only roider but he was the only that could do this.

Most of you know how I feel about stats anyway and also how I can be rather lenient when judging these athletes.

#713 still looked like it cleared the atmosphere. As a Giant and Dodger enemy, fuck that guy. As a media hater, props to the guy as a roid user, until we know the facts about every player, I couldn't care less.
