Subject: Do NOT post any more media files in here

Post by Jack »

Admin PM post deleted by rozy
Jack, address the contents should you wish but don't post PMs.

RF addressed Jack concerning a media file containing Active X. I'm editing this because I don't feel the spirit of Jack's post was negative and deserving of a ban for posting an Admin PM.

*********************************
I have been spanked by RadioFan!!

I apologize to all members of theoneboard.com

My posting of a file that contained an Active X was not intentional but as RadioFan says, it threatened everyone of you.

For that I am truly sorry.

I will stand in the corner and only post in MLB for awhile.

(Until, I am requested back or when I feel I have served just punishment.)

However, just one note.. If anything presents as a potential threat (media files, flash, etc..)..why doesn't this board remove those options.

Is anybody else feeling stupid? I read Y2K's post about Active X controls, I saw RadioFan refer to them, AP knows what it is, I guess Tarddowen knows what it is, but I sure as the hell don't.

Excuse me while I leave the forum and do some google magic. Oh, and another thing. In Y2K's thread, mouse had a link to that program called "Xoft Spy Scan"...can anybody recommend this?

I think it is safe to say that this "Active X control" thing must not be good. Kind of reminds me of years ago when a bunch of us used to smack around in the IRC rooms. I pissed off somebody so bad that the next thing you know I had popups on my computer with this yelling voice saying, "FUCK YOU LUTHER." I didn't even think twice about it as I immediately got every operating disk I had and reformatted my computer, right then and there. I never went back to IRC and you'd have to steal my wife or kids to get me back in there.

1. Try actually checking out wtf your linking to/posting in the future.

2. You didn't put the (m) tags as a warning before you posted a media file. You know better than that.

3. You posted a sound file for "taps" for Christ's sake. You think nobody in here has never heard that before? What exactly were you trying to accomplish?

4. In case you forgot, this is a smack board, even on Memorial Day. Put some lotion on your pussy and move on or find another board, hackneyed moron.

jack,

it's not hard to make a mistake like the one you made and it's fortunate it was just Viewpoint Media Player. Just don't do it agaimn OK?....

You do bring up a good point that maybe dave can address. Not many are savvy to all the tricks WWShitheads and Marketing Lackeys constantly design to install stealth bots on every computer linked to the Internet. I make a good living on trying to undo the mayhem they create so I can spot trouble pretty quickly but unfortunately my machine was in normal mode and I bailed ASAP and left it to the Admins. When I'm out purposely seeking out the latest malicious executables I start my PC from a CD-ROM and run in a virtual (RAM Only) mode and deny any hard Drive access so once I see something it's gone simply by turning the computer off.
UNFORTUNATELY Though, herein lies a problem.........
not anyone here does that and (before someone mentions Firefox or Apple OS or some worthless comment that won't fix the problem for people who might be stopping by just to read ect.) we have the Jess The Rookies who are incessantly scouring every worthless shithole on the Web looking for something to Jack-Off to or otherwise amuse their simple yet lonely exsistance. It's just a matter of his posting a link to this braindead garbage and someone gets scripted from a page which includes a bunch of "neato" extras via a self installing media format.
Porn Moguls are experts at this bullshit and use guys like Jess to spread the hurt.

I'm just wondering whether live content is a good idea...

just sayin.....

My question also.

Are we supposed to check our computer now?

Do instruct.

Y2k is dead on concerning Active X.
essentially it turns over full use (or close to it) of a pc to whatever controls are coded into various web pages.
those pages can be good as well as bad.
I missed what Jack did but it's probably not the first time it's happened.
it's best to have a firewall (Zone Alarm etc...) as well as multiple security tools(Spybot,Spyware Blaster etc..) running on your pc to prevent promiscuous use.

trev, always check your pc to prevent any potential problems.

Not anymore Patsy,
Unfortunately for Mac people, Apple Computer Users have become something worth the time and effort to fuck with and steal from. it's about time for Mac users to realize that it's never been the Apple OS that protected you and as like so many other things in life..........

Be smart and use protection........sup PrimeX

BTW- Welcome to the Popular Computer People's own little Personal Hell.
The view maybe nice but it's actually a shitty neighborhood if you aren't careful............. 8)

Jeez...you need to settle down.

Jack obviously had no idea he was posting a malicious file.

And where do you come off btiching at him for not knowing any better than to post a sound file with "Taps" in a thread with a Memorial Day theme? Doesn't sound like a bad idea, actually.

I don't really know what your story is, Radio Fan, but you are one little uptight prick who is apt to explode for the most questionable of excuses.
Damnn, I'm gonna agree w/todd for once.
RF... you went waaaaaaay overboard. Ease up there, Trigger.
