Canes-Sabres: Game 7
This has quietly been a very competitive and exciting series...not shocked to see this go the distance. These are two very similar teams personnel-wise...I really did see either team having an edge going into it.
Using my Game 7 formula...
Winner of Game 6: Buffalo
Home Team for Game 7: Carolina
Team with the better goalie: Buffalo...Miller gets the slight edge
(2-1 Buffalo)
My pick: Buffalo 3, Carolina 2

Pretty big Game 7.......reminicent of those epic Game 7's played by the Stars and Avs back in 99 and 00. I was a mess for those two days...I can't imagine how the players felt. Huh....Stars in a Conference Final.......what a concept.....
Just because it's at Carolina means squat. While I like Shoalz formula, the Canes just have something about them. Flip a coin.....

This has been one of the best series I can remember. Crisp, fast, hard hitting hockey.Shoalzie wrote:This has quietly been a very competitive and exciting series...not shocked to see this go the distance.
Heart wants Buffalo, head says 3-1 Carolina (yes.......I am making a prediction 1 period in, FYIA)
Thank the gods that's over. I think half my hair fell out from the stress of the whole series.
I'm going back into the basement--I'll have more to say when this is all over.

Your team is in the final though, so that should more than make up for it.AcidQueen wrote:I just noticed that.MuchoBulls wrote:What are you talking about? Per his rules, you lost the tiebreaker.AcidQueen wrote:Shoalz, I'll have my picks to you in the next hour or so.

Congrats AQ on your Canes continuing their great run this year!
Hard to root against either team...both are great success stories in the new NHL. That was a fantastic game last night...that's not the last time we've heard from the Sabres. They're much like the Ducks...very young and have the potential be very good for a long time. It's a shame the delay of game call cost them the series but that's been a rule all year...it's too easy to complain about it when it affects a game of this magnitude. Helluva series...it's too bad one team had to lose.
This should be a very competitive and spirited final...both teams are closely matched and play similar styles. It should be an up-tempo and physical series. Neither goalie I would consider dominant but Roloson has probably been the steadiest between him and Ward. I also like the Oilers blueline a little more...Pronger has arguably been the best player in the playoffs. Another attractive quality of this series is there are some great veterans (Brind'Amour, Weight, Pronger) who've never won the cup...the desire to win on both of these teams should be incredible. The matchup may seem unlikely but the quality of play will be as good as we've seen in recent years. I'm really anxious to see this one get going.
I wonder how the 9-day layoff affects the Oilers. Will they be rusty in Game 1 or will they be so amped up from waiting that they play too aggressive and take a lot of penalties in the beginning? They should benefit from this series being in Carolina to start...they'll have to play a composed road game because the crowd should fuel the hometown Hurricanes from the start. I've been picking against the Canes in all three rounds and they've proven me wrong each time but it's difficult to pick against the Oilers.
My pick: Edmonton in 6 games

Don't make me ashamed to have ever cheered for the Oilers, Cicatrix.Cicatrix wrote:Yo Queen......sig bet?
Although after seeing the brutality inflicted on Shoalzie I can understand if you don't wanna.
Have fun in the basement sweetie.

AQ hasn't revealed any bizarre secrets about herself, has she? Maybe you can just make something up, Cic...
