What do they need with law enforcement? There are only four n...iggers there.

I'm quite familiar with Cranks.

And if some BS census claims there's any African Americans there, they are flat fucking lying. Redneckdom at its finest.

And instead of saving money on police, they should probably save money by letting an obviously incompetant city council go.

I challenge anyone to come up with a town anywhere in this country that has had more explosive increases in property values than Banks. Save your time...there isn't one. Whatever that p[opulation figure is for 2000, multiply it by about 10 today. Banks is absolutely BOOMING...not open for debate.

What is ever-so-slightly open for debate, is how a group entrusted to take care of a city's financial/service needs has failed so miserably in a town that is suddenly sweating money from every pore.

Banks has become a "bedroom community" of choice for bigwigs commuting to Intel and Fujitsu, and even some Nike execs.

How any group with enough nerve to call themselves a "city council" could fail to parlay their recent windfalls into at least enough revenue to field a police force is beyond me.

Of course, if they levied a tax on the manufacture of meth, it would be the richest city in the world...no joke.

But you know what -- when I make that "last chance" stop for booze for the drive to the Coast, forgive me if I don't sweat my safety. Some people just don't seem to grasp the concept of "frontier justice," which is still the #1 rule of law in rural Oregon (and I'm sure other parts of the Old West)...you don't commit crimes against other people or their property, or it results in the rapid onset of lead poisoning...same as it's been for the last 150 years. Who needs cops for that...the state cops can referee the aftermath.

Oh, and bear in mind that this little town runs alongside a state highway, which is a major route from Portland to the Coast...and the Staters work speedtraps somewhere around 90% of the time in Cranks...ERRRRR, Banks. There's a Smokey 2 minutes away, much of the time.

Big freaking non-issue, if you ask me (who is, as stated, quite familiar with the town in question). Pretty freaking irresponsible reporting-imo...but it's what I've come to expect from KGW....right up there with the local Fox affiliate as far as "journalistic integrity" goes.


Did I mention that they have a dirt stock-car track in Cranks? If that paints a better picture...
