this would definatly suck and completely change the internet as we know it.

what really sucks is..it doesnt just effect PC gamers..it also effects console gamers as well.

i think it's a load of shit...all about the benjamins.

Nevermind gamers, it affects everyone who uses the internet. Small websites, like this one, would suffer because the owners aren't likely willing, or able, to pay extra for "premium service". In the worst case scenario there would be people who wouldn't be able to access this site, and at the very least it would be slower.

As I've understood it so far, the fast(er) lane will be made available for multimedia that the big boys are going to push you. Essentially, this represents part of a overall upgrade in bandwidth.

If that's the case, then independent hosts won't be much affected. This site sees bandwidth transfer of 25-30 gigs a month TOTAL (as in, from our host to all users). They're talking about pushing through DVD-quality streaming video, which would chew up a lot more bandwidth - a LOT more.

By all means, segment that out. Again, I don't see where there will be a decrease in speed or bandwidth for everybody else.
