Game 7: Call it!

Post by Shoalzie »

I want to just throw out my Game 7 formula after seeing the way the Oilers have played in the last two games. But going by my previous format...the Canes have home ice and I'd still consider Ward the better goalie in the series while the Oilers were the winners of Game 6. By rule, I pick the Hurricanes but I have a strong feeling that Edmonton is a team of destiny.

My pick:
Edmonton 3, Carolina 2

Oilers 3 Canes 1, bringing back Cole didn't work for game 6, and I can't see it making a difference in game 7.

Going to be a tough call for the Smythe if the Oilers win..

Carolina will win 3-1

Then we can talk about drafts
Luongo going to the Kings

Luongo isn't going to the Kings, they need D, not a goaltender.

Every FlameFan's worst nightmare: a day on which the Oilers could win the Cup.

Fuck me runnin' if these playoffs could have gone any worse.

Only one chance to make things right now, Carolina. Don't fuck it up!!

Cole was probably the best Hurricanes forward in Game 6. I think it was a bold to bring him back and I wouldn't be shocked to see him play a huge Game 7 tonight. He's got fresh legs and he's got the speed and grit to combat the Oilers defense. I expect him to be be a force tonight.

As for Conn Smythe...you're right, this is tough to call. It's been a case of different guys showing up at different times. For Edmonton, I thought Pronger was the MVP after 3 rounds but I think the clutch goal-scoring of Pisani makes him their MVP in this series. For Carolina, I think it can go to Brind'Amour or Staal. Staal of late has been all or nothing. He did nothing in Game 6. Brind'Amour has been probably the most steady player the Canes have had throughout. If Ward has a big game tonight, maybe he takes home the hardware...it has to be in a winning effort of course.

Man, I'm pumped for this one. I hope the Caniacs can match the passion of OilerFan in Game 6. Rexall was an unbelievable venue on Saturday. Both cities have been great hosts for this series...bravo to both towns and their fans.

The Wings ran Legace out of town...don't count them out if they can free up some money and can put a decent package together for Luongo. They've still got to sign Lidstrom and he might be looking for a max contract. I've seen rumors of them giving up Jimmy Howard and either Kronwall or Datsyuk for Luongo. I don't like the idea of trading Kronwall but I wouldn't mind seeing Datsyuk, Mr. Invisible in the playoffs, disappear once and for all. The Wings will be looking for another goalie via free agency or trade.

Are you joking, of course the Kings need a goalie. They've needed a goalie for at least three years.

Any coincidence that he disappeared as well?

Dats is super talented but after watching the way Zetterberg stepped forward and played well under pressure and how he (Datsyuk) just existed, for lack of a better word...you tell me which guy you would rather have? Zetterberg is probably the future captain of this team. I really don't know what to make of Datsyuk's future. He'll rack up numbers in the regular season but he's got to show up in April and May...and June (hopefully).

Sorry to hijack my own thread with Wings talk. Can't believe the season has been over for the Wings for almost 50 days.

I'll take a break from my fishing, running and cycling retirement from hockey and say 'Canes 3-2 in OT.

A two-goal lead in a Game 7 at home for the Canes...not looking good for the Oilers. This has been a complete flip-flop of Game 6 so far. Edmonton needs an answer very soon...

I was wondering what it was doing there with the way Staios was reacting. I would've sworn he was trapping it against the post.

20 minutes to go...can the Oilers solve Ward? They don't lose with a lead going into the third. They have to get the next goal...no way do the Oilers come back from 3-0.

One more goal from him would be nice provided Joey Moss didn't pick him tonight.

Just posted the picks...Joey goofed and picked Pronger a second time so he won't get any points unless he gets the winner of the game and the score correct. Neither of you will have an advantage on the series pick. It could come down to the tiebreaker. 34 goals scored in the series including the 3 from tonight.

Nope...unless Jersey joined the Southeast without our knowledge.

Still a great accomplishment...they used to be the laughing stocks of the league and bridesmaids. Cory Stillman defends his championship on a different team.

Cixitrixi, why don't you man up and give me my props?

You've been all over me about being a blithering shit spewing sack of trash...yet I called game 7 perfectly. I called the whole Oilers situation perfectly. I did it months ago.

You also said that the Ducks were the best team in the NHL. I wasn't aware that the leagues best team didn't have to win it's conference to have that title.

Like I said, you talk so much crap that eventually you will hit the mark.

The only props I give you is the one for the guy that manages to suck his own dick more than Ron Jeremy. I have never seen someone rack himself more often.

Here are the facts....

1--you are a no talent hack that spews and regurgitates web clippings disguised as his own musings.

2--you can't hang with the hockey talk yet present yourself as the man on the mountain handing out sage advice and predictions from on high. Truth is that no one here is respected less than you. Believe it.

3--racking yourself and asking for props is the weakest thing ever. I laugh everytime I see you do it.

4--you can't hang with the smack either. No one respects your "knowledge" nor your skills. Both are far below the radar to be of any merit.

Now I am definitely not the most knowledgable guy here. Far from it. But at the same time I know my limitations and when I should speak and when I should shut my mouth. You need to examine that lesson. I'll give you that one for free.

Class is over.
