Some lesson... The ramblings of oilerfan the day after their debacle. Where did I say the Ducks were the best team in the league? Anyway, it's a moot point because I am batting about .750 with hockey concerns.
Here's a sampling of bon mots that I tossed over the shoulder way before they ever happened:
-ATG winning the battle with Mario's bottomboy
-The leafs not making the playoffs
-Colorado making the playoffs
-Ottawa tanking the end of the season, and losing in the 2nd round
-Edmonton's goalie woes
-Edmonton making it to the finals
-Team Canada getting shelled in the Olympics
-Crawford going to the Kings
-Calling out the wings about Jiri Fischer
...and this is just off the top of my head.
I'm actually one of the best posters on this board. I know it and so does everyone else. Where as you are a nobody, adleminded & obtuse
But I am sympathetic. You're just tender from the debacle.

Like I said, you talk so much even a towering intellect like yours can't keep it all straight.
Hey, wanna tell me who is gonna win the cup next year? I have some cash to burn and a heavy vegas bet right now will pay off big next June.

Wow That's the weakest link I've ever seen.
Let me get this straight in my head... I'm embarassed for you...but I have to know.
Bryzgalov records his 3rd straight playoff shutout (no easy feat), his team scored 11 goals in those 3 games.. So I post:

All of this blabbering out of you and that's all you can come up with? Some bon mot tossed over the shoulder that in reality was correct?
You are in full scale melt. Get it out of your system...

Yet somehow you have turned that into my saying Anaheim is the best team in the league? I'm hardly the only person who thought the Ducks looked unbelievable in that 3 game run. Bwahaha They had just come off a 5 game playoff win streak.Bryzgalov just recorded his third straight shoutout. No easy feat in the playoffs. Anaheim is looking like the best team in the league.

Sorry Cicatrix, I gotta agree with RP on this. He did make these statements.
He went out on a limb and of the two high profile rookies, he went with the older (homer) pick.-ATG winning the battle with Mario's bottomboy
Like eveyone else outside of Hogtownb he went with the grain and did not see the leafs in the playoffs. Who but Kreskin himself could have forseen Lindros and Belfour getting hurt?-The leafs not making the playoffs
Was that before or after they secured their 95th point?-Colorado making the playoffs
He did.-Ottawa tanking the end of the season, and losing in the 2nd round
Unclear if he did it at the start of the season or when they had the worst GGA in the league? Either way, it was good work finding a team without a proven starter and saying that they will have goalie problems. We're still trying to locate the thread to see if he also predicted that Edmonton would be weak down the middle or if he thought Horcoff would lead the team.-Edmonton's goalie woes
Maybe I should hand over the trophy to him. However since I don't have a date for the statement "make it to the finals", we are unsure if he meant they would win 3 rounds, or if he just predicted that they catch the right flight to the finals in Carolina?-Edmonton making it to the finals
Wow! Czechs, Fins, Swedes, Russian, Canadians, American, Slovaks... That's 7 quality teams, and he managed to pick the one that didn't win. Mad Props.-Team Canada getting shelled in the Olympics
So contrary to rumors, he can actually read the newspaper.-Crawford going to the Kings
Yes he did and we still think that he's a moron for doing it.-Calling out the wings about Jiri Fischer
GET-ZKY!!!!

To his credit, he did stand by his guy. I'm certainly sold on Ovechkin but I think it was just a matter of getting a chance to watch him for me to realize how good he is. It's not like Ovechkin blew away Crosby in the scoring race either. Even after Lemieux and Palffy retired, Crosby continued to rack up the big numbers and finished just 4 points behind him. Both guys are legends in the making...why debate over who's better? I don't know if the NHL has ever a better one-two punch in a rookie class.
Unless I'm reading it wrong also, seems as though Rat did in fact call it correctly back in October..Joey Moss wrote:Maybe I should hand over the trophy to him. I do remember you and I debating about the prospects for the Pens and Caps. I think it is a nice accomplishment for an organization to have their farm team win a league title. Most of those guys will eventually be on the big club soon. It should be considered a promising sign for the Capitals.
Which is what Rattie's point was at the time. May be, maybe not. Until then, the Caps gotta work at getting someone other than Chris Clark to be their 2nd leading scorer... BWAH!!!Shoalzie wrote:Most of those guys will eventually be on the big club soon. It should be considered a promising sign for the Capitals.

He was tied for 3rd. That's a great thing..career best season. Obviously, Sutter didn't have a clue how to use him.JD wrote: the Caps gotta work at getting someone other than Chris Clark to be their 2nd leading scorer... BWAH!!!

Yup. Obviously. The Rat Pack wrote:He was tied for 3rd. That's a great thing..career best season. Obviously, Sutter didn't have a clue how to use him.
Chris Clark spent a season or two patrolling the 2nd line RW spot in Calgary and never broke out. The Flames continued to miss the playoffs. As soon as Clark was pushed down the depth chart, the Flames made the playoffs and marched to the Finals.
Now Clark is in Washington, scoring goals off Alex Ovechkin rebounds, yet again not making the playoffs, and Sutter's the one who didn't know how to use him. Makes good sense.
I like Clark and I'm glad he's experiencing some personal success, but no team relying on Clark for consistent offensive contributions will succeed.
