Here I am, looking at the Tigers and White Sox schedule and I see the Tigers have 3 with the Brewers and the Sox have 3 with the cards.

After seeing this, I figured that the Tigers would pick up a game or two before we had to face the Cardinals....but no...the Cardinals pitching staff gave up 20 runs!!!! Are you serious? 20 runs in one game? The Tigers have gone an entire week without giving up 20 runs.

Jeezus...come on Cardinals.
Those who stay will be champions.

What? You'll have three chances to get 20 runs. I'm guessing Mulder will be DLed after this start so your chances will drop, but you'll get to face Carpenter.

Dropped Mulder in multiple leagues last week. But he ain't pitching tonight and it's still 13-3 in the fifth.

Ouch.

The Tigers get the Cardinals this weekend and Pujols isn't scheduled to return until Monday. Hopefully the redbirds can salvage a win in the series because they have their own division race to worry about with Clemens coming back tonight. The Astros come to Comerica the first part of next week. Six key games ahead for the Tigers...I want 4 or 5 wins. They're 7-2 so far in interleague play.

Probables for the next six games:
Friday: Verlander vs. Carpenter
Saturday: Rogers vs. Suppan
Sunday: Bonderman vs. Mulder
Monday: Miner vs. Rodriguez
Tuesday: Robertson vs. Clemens
Wednesday: Verlander vs. Pettitte

I think it's pretty clear that the AL Central is a two team race. The Twins have solid starting pitcher but don't have the lineup they used to have. The Indians are an enigma...they can slug with anyone but that pitching staff got worse in the offseason and they just dumped Johnson on the Red Sox. Barring any epic runs from either team, it'll be the Tigers and White Sox fighting for the division crown this summer. The Twins have won 10 of 12 and they're still 11-1/2 out. Chicago and Detroit just flat out win games so it'll be tough to gain ground and I imagine they'll only increase their lead in the coming months.

No, that's the Mets.

The problem we ran into is starting pitching:

--Mulder has seriously hit a wall. Not a leave everything up and over the wall like Tuesday night, but Mulder has become a 5th starter this season. Good thing we didn't resign him in the offseason.
---Marquis, despite 9 wins, has absolutely no consistently. Some games he'll keep his sinker low and get 15 ground ball outs, and others he'll rely on a weak curve and leave pitches high in the strike zone.
--Ponson hasn't been as bad as Mulder, but he did something off the field to get into LaRussa's doghouse and out of the rotation. Who knows when we'll find out what that action was.
--NL Cy Young Carpenter was injured and had two bad outings. At that time Cardsfan was freaking out about the season. He has since returned to dominance.

If the ChiSox destroy us and rookie Anthony Reyes tonight, then you could say something about the Cards being a bad team for a stretch. If not, its a comment about the pitching those two nights. Keep in mind that Reyes has done well in the bigs, but had a rough couple outings in AAA before the latest call.

Also, there's this one guy on offense who was pretty good that got injured a month ago.

As for the Cards division race, we haven't had Pujols and have had pitching woes galore YET we are 4 games up. Past two seasons the Stros made late pushes to squeak into the WILDCARD. Regarding Clemens, don't believe the hype. If Backe can come back to 2005 form and not 2004 form, and Petite can come back and Oswalt can continue his Oswaltness, then they have a chance to get the WILDCARD. Cards don't worry about Houston until our pitching squares off in a best of 7.

Thanks for not jinxing the Tigers, Screw...your Sox pulled a win out of their ass today so it only seems fair that the Tigers did the same.
