My Tiger snub is Magglio Ordonez. I know he and Ozzie had their falling out when he left Chicago...I hope that doesn't have anything to do with why he wasn't named to the team. I also think Verlander should've made the All-Star team instead of Rogers if they were going to take just one guy from the Tigers' rotation. Ozzie took two Sox starters so that's probably why the Tigers just got one. Pudge isn't having a great year but it's good that he got the late surge of support to be the starting catcher.
I'm curious to find out who will be put on the ballot for the last player on the rosters for each team. If Magglio or Verlander is on the ballot, they're getting my vote(s).

Verlander on the list for last man in for the AL...unfortunately, he's up against Hafner and Liriano along with Pierzynski and Ramon Hernandez. I'm thinking it'll be between Hafner and Liriano. In the NL, Abreu, Capuano, Garciaparra, Wagner and Chris Young...I'll vote for Nomar because he's having a great comeback season.
The Tigers kind of run into the same problem the Pistons or the Red Wings ran into with the All-Star Game. They might be the best team or one of the best but no one is head and shoulders carrying the team on their back. They've got 7 guys with at least 10 home runs but no one has more than 16, 8 guys with at least 30 RBI (Polanco has currently has 29), 9 guys with at least 35 runs scored, 5 guys with at least 80 hits, 7 guys hitting at least .280 (Ordonez leads at .313) and then they have all 6 of their starting pitchers under 4.00 ERA and none of them with more than 4 losses. I'm disappointed for Magglio that he didn't make the squad because of the way he's battled back from injury and he would be the one guy in the lineup I would say is having an All-Star season while the rest of the team is pulling their weight but not having an amazing year.

Schilling?? Anyone...anyone... 10 wins? Hello...Bueller?
Earlier Phil Garner said it was the NL's year. What the fuck kind of crack has he been smoking? Has he been asleep the last 2 weeks while the AL opened a whole BIG can of whoop ass on the NL. 153-98, about to be 154 as Yankees are beating the piss out of the Mets.

JCT, there are already 3 Red Sox starters out of 34 (35) total spots. Guillen had to chooose Papelbon since he is one of the most exciting stories in the MLB this year. So, Schilling could not be picked.JCT wrote:Schilling?? Anyone...anyone... 10 wins? Hello...Bueller?

Liriano (Minn) is definitely deserving but taking 2 Starters from a rival may look bad (as in Guillen would be taking away of his rival's top pitchers when they could use the rest). He or Verlander should be the "Final Man". But then again taking either would be taking 2 Starters from their teams lineup. I am not in favor of that from a "Regualr Season" perspective.
Buehrle ??? - not deserving IMO and aslo looks like Ozzie is taking too many CWS players. He may be helping them out due to incentives in their contract but the All Star break is a good time to rest players.
As far as the fan vote..
Jeter is not deserving of Starting SS this year but is voted due to being the most popular. He is worthy of being an All Star but Tejada should be #1.
Ivan Rod?? Since he stopped taking whatever he was taking (Roids, HGH, kisses from Uggie..). He has not been the best Catcher (especially from an Offensive POV).. not even close. Joe Mauer should be #1 case closed. Ramon Hernandez and Victor Martinez should also go before I-Rod.
Although I am not a National League fan, The National League lineup looks good to me. My knowledge of the NL comes from SportsCenter, Fantasy Baseball and Interleague play with the Red Sox.
-Nomah should be the "Final Candidate" in the NL.
**
Additional Note- Manny Ramirez was voted #1 by the fans in the AL. I wouldn't pick him #1 but he deserves to be a starter... However, Manny does not recognize what an honor it is to be an All Star and will do whatever he can, NOT to play!

Six fucking White Sox named as reserves or pitchers. I call shenanigans!!!
There should be a Congressional investigation STAT!!!
Detroit should have been better rewarded for their great first half. Nobody is going to cry for any BoSox player snub. Jiminy Christmas, they've got plenty of representation.

Every year we go through this...how the managers stack the lineup with their own players. An easy solution, have the GM's of each league vote for the reserves and pitchers. No more stacking the lineup with dubious choices (see Bhuerle) and ignoring players that are deserving but have pissed off the manager in the past (see Maggio)
Fuck Guillen.
Fuck Guillen.
Jack, Tejada over Jeter? Huh? Not this year...

Manny could miss the game...

Pierzynski and Garciaparra win the fan vote for the last man in...damn Chicago had a campaign going, "Punch AJ"...with pleasure. Liriano should've gotten the spot and I only voted twice for Verlander. SoxFan stuffed the internet ballot box without a doubt.

At least the Tigers got an extra guy with Ordonez replacing Manny and Rogers might be the starting pitcher for the AL. No arguments with me on backwards Ramon...very deserving choice.

Thanks for that "addition" my nippy little banned for life bet welcher.Adelpiero wrote:you'll be drunk and passed out by the time a Padre takes the field, so i see your point of not watching.trev wrote:Disgusting.Shoalzie wrote:Pierzynski and Garciaparra win the fan vote for the last man in...
Good thing I won't be watching this silly game anyway.
A.J. I hope is who you are referring to, because a very good case could be made that Nomar is the NL MVP at this point, much less having to be gimmicked into the All Star Game...trev wrote:Disgusting.Shoalzie wrote:Pierzynski and Garciaparra win the fan vote for the last man in...

Garner really blew it in leaving Nomar and Oswalt off. Although I am perfectly fine with Roy taking the 3 days to go rest and run his tractor around a few acres.

Too funny. Chris Young has better numbers but I don't blame Phil.
It's still a good thing I don't care about this game.
Update, no rest for Roy.

memo to oswalt, maybe you should take a lesson, when you try and knock albert down, it only pisses him off, he makes sure he tears the fuckin cover off that at bat. thanx for pissing the man off

I hate Towles Hill, bee sounds and the deification of Roger Clemens. I can avoid the first two by not watching Stros home games and I can avoid the latter by never watching ESPN.

Surely you aren't saying that Vlad is a better defensive player than Ichiro?Cross Traffic wrote:Guillen's stupidity reigns again, Vlad Guerrero in LF? HELLO, Vlad has one of the best cannons in the outfield in the game.
Because THAT would be ...."stupidity."

I believe he said "cannon"-and on that merit, he'd be correct.Dinsdale wrote:Surely you aren't saying that Vlad is a better defensive player than Ichiro?Cross Traffic wrote:Guillen's stupidity reigns again, Vlad Guerrero in LF? HELLO, Vlad has one of the best cannons in the outfield in the game.

No fucking way is suzuki's arm better than Vlad's. Period.
Overall better defensive player? Suzuki ALL the damn way. He is a tremendous LF force and deserves every one of his 5 gold gloves.
Guillen was correct to put Ichiro in the LF slot-especially since it means WS home field advantage for the winning team.
Someone needs to read just a TOUCH more carefully...
