I'm all for reparations.

Whatever amount is deemed to be fair...

Minus all administrative fees and inequty from Affirmative Action, minus all welfare payments made to African Americans, minus all law enforcement expenses and court fees that AAs have incurred....

The AAs should have Whitey paid off sometime around 2123.

Bring it on.

But seriously, there are a few parts of the world where subsequent generations are held accountable for the "sins of the father" -- of course, in those places, they sell the "father's" daughters into sexual slavery, they hunt their meals with pointy sticks and rocks, and they'd worship a booger if it was big and scary enough...

but yeah, sure...reparations should be considered "progress"...

No one in my family was here prior to 1926, and if anybody in my family owned slaves from that point on, I'm pretty sure "reparations" would have been the least of their troubles.

Not one dime of my money, directly or through taxes, should go to the meritless money-grubbing of "reparations."

And I'm guessing that the increasing Mexican population of the U.S. will be even less sympathetic to the idea of their tax dollars going to African-Americans...

How 'bout instead of reparations, they just get paid for services rendered for 300 years, starting with the slaving companies that shipped them over.

I didn't realize there was a statute of limitations on salary due.

OK - so let's find the slaves who did the work, sit them down with the folks who captured them, sold them into slavery, shipped 'em here, sold 'em again, and then forced them to work.

Oh, wait, that's right...they're all dead...the African slaves, the other Africans who did the capturing and selling, the Arabs, the Portuguese, Spaniards, Brits, etc...

Well, I guess that pretty much takes care of that.

Oh, and if anyone goes to the idiotic "well, you should still pay since you derive benefits from the slave labor" bullshit, no dice. Considering the technological, economic, and military aid the U.S. has given all over the world at various times, the list of folks who 'derived benefits" has grown exponentially according to that specious argument.

Fuck reparations. It's just another excuse for some folks to try to get money for no effort...
